The 10Th Digit Represents The Year For GM, "X" stands for the 1999 model year, "Y" is for 2000, "1" is for 2001, "2" is for 2002 and so on. The eleventh digit represents the assembly plant where the vehicle was manufactured.

For a GM engine built since 1960, the stamping number should be 7 or 8 digits with both numbers and letters.

What I mean is, the engine stamping number usually has a number in the second and third position which gives you the month and day it was built. The last three digits tell you what the vehicle was the engine was built for, and the year it was made. Usually the number is 8 digits for anything made after 1990. You may have better luck using the casting number. And most any salvage yard should have interchange books that will give you the breakdown of the numbers.

I have an 87 f150 5.0 in 87 and I need to know if I can put in 86 5.0 motor in and I need to know where the knock sensor is on the 86 if you have any ideas

Yes, they appear identical engines. The engine wiring for the two years appears identical, down to the same knock sensor. So it is likely in the same position as on your '87. Only difference in the two years, is your 1987 might have an extra emissions solenoid or two, but the engine controls and sensors all appear identical.

I need to know the year of my Ford V- 8 engine. It is a 302 and the number on the engine block is 9K2B?

You need one more bit of information!!!
What we have is your engine date code, providing the year of manufacture, but not the "Decade" of manufacture. You will need the Engine Tag/Plate number for additional info.
  • 9 = ninth year of a certain decade
  • K = month
    • A = Jan
    • M = December
    • (i is not used)
  • Next 2 digits are numbers, hence I think your B is an 8
Your engine was manufactured on October 28, 19x9 to find x you need to ...

Locate the Engine Tag / Plate... (this is for Ford Engines)
  • It can be near the coil, where the bolts secure it.
  • by/under the oil dipstick tube
  • under heat indicator bulb
  • under the stud attaching carburetor (this is for larger engines)
There will be a long number on it.
And it will start with an Alpha Character...
  • 1st position - Probably not an "A"... but this letter designates the "Decade" in which the engine was built.
    • "B" = 1950's, C = 1960's, etc
  • 2nd position - will be a numeral from 0 - 9 and this designates the year (1st to 10th) of the above decade it was built.
  • 3rd position - Basic design of the Vehicle
    • example: A - Generic engine, full size, E or T - Truck, L - Lincoln, M - Mercury, and for you car buffs... O - '67-'76 Torino's and all Fairlanes, Z - Mustangs,
  • 4th position - Almost always an E - meaning made by the Engine Design Team (which Design Team? Engine design team)
  • And the last 4 positions are the part number of that engine
Just for fun, this is a cool site...

Where is the location of Honda accord A/T clutch pressure Control solenoid Valve B

You didn't menyion the year or engine size of your vehicle in order for anyone to be able to give you a picture of at least thell you its location. Depending on the year however I do know that in Honda's solenoid A & B come as a assembly and need to be replaced as one unit but again will need to know the year and engine size to be sure this is the case for your year. Also if it's a DX, LX or something of that nature as well. Also are you geting any trouble codes like is you engine light on and is the D3 or D4 (if eqiupt with a light) flashing ?

The shaft will not go all the way into the flywheel

you know what the year is of the car you need the motor for and whoever you got the motor from should know what year the car it came out of.on these they are interchangable from year to year until you get into i think about 2001.or you can get the engine number off the block and call a wrecker to find out what year it is.

I have a 1993 mr2 and need an engine loom diagram for when i fit the replacement engine

I can help! Are you doing a N/A to turbo swap? Or just engine for engine? Mostly year for year will be the same...JDM or USDM. Depending on year...My first suggestion would be to go to Toyota and buy the 2 Big Green Books for your year. They have FULL wire diagrams amongst COUNTLESS things you will need to know. 2nd...I would go to MR2 tech .com...They have most of the pages of the BGB there. Anything you need let me know! Ive done many swaps in the 2nd gen. Good luck!
