Did you check the brake light switch? It's under dash near the top of the brake pedal on the back side.

If the third brake light works and the bulbs aren't blown, it's usually the turn signal switch. it sounds wierd, but that's probably what it is. It is under the steering wheel and is not the easiest or cheapest thing to replace. It should fix your problem, but may hurt your wallet in the process. Guy at work paid 300 to fix his 2000 grand prix with the same problem.

I assume the fuse has power if the hazards work.
The third brake light skips the turn signal switch, the regular brake light circuit goes thru the turn signal switch.
Do you have power going into the turn signal switch on the red lite green wire from the brake switch ?

2011 Expedition left rear blinker light not working even after replacing bulb...also, brake bulb does not work with hazards, but does work with brakes and headlights...ideas?

In my experience, when the hazards are on, the brake lights are not supposed to indicate braking in this day and age of automobiles. In other words braking lights will not override the hazards when hazarding. I believe the 3rd or high mount brake light should work when hazarding and braking at the same time to indicate you are braking. I find it very seldom is there the need to drive and have the hazards on....in torrential rain going at low speed perhaps. Anyway, hope this was helpful. If not, I apologize.

I suspect there is a problem with the turn signal/ hazard switch. turn the turn signal on left or right, if it doesn't flash, grip the hazard button and gently wiggle it around, if the signals start flashing, replace the turn signal switch. The Brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch, if the 3rd brake light works, the brake switch is OK. I don't think it has anything to do with the anti theft system (at this time)

The third brake light works the main brake lights don't work ?

The outer brake lights work off the brake light switch mounted by the brake pedal so that will need to be replaced. The 3rd brake lamp is powered by another source with a power inverter that runs up the voltage somewhat for the lights are light emitting diodes instead

Bottom brake lights and hazard lights do not come on. All other lights work including top brake lights. Fuses and bulbs checked.

Check for power out of brake light switch by brake pedal. Of its faulty , the 3rd brake light will still work. Hope this helps
