The radiator has been replaced. New spark plugs, someone said it has to do with the water pump, it needs to be flushed or a variant action. Still over heats. It's a vw Jetta 95. Any idea's?

Bad radiator


Step_1 disconnect inlet (top hose) & outlet bottom) hose. I'm assuming you're replacing a corroded radiator. They now offer copper or plastic radiators that have high resistance to corrosion. If you replace with alluminum or steel radiator, do a flush job yearly with replace with the green radiiator solution or the red one if you replaced with aluminum radiator.
Step_2 disconnect the electric fan. first unhook the wire connection, then loosen the 4 screws that's holding the fan assembly against the radiator.
Step_3 Loosen the bolts holding the radiator unit. When re-attaching the new radiiator, install new hoses as well. Fill the radiator through the pressure relief cap with 60-40 radiator to water mixture. The instructions say 50-50, but 60-40 is a stronger solution that prevents freezing, boiling, & corrosion buildup. It there's a coolant filter, replace this unit as well. It looks like an oil filter cartridge.
Preventive miantainance: Perform a coolant flush every 50K miles. Most car manufacturers recommend 30K miles or 2 years, which ever comes first, but that's to boo$t revenue for car dealership service centers. IMO the max is 70K or 2 years. When you notice the temperature is overheating in the summer months, an engine radiator flush AND replacing the thermostat is the solution. Most shops will say "you need a new water pump" and the scammer had not even performed a diagnostic test. The water pump will last the life of the engine (140K+ miles) unless the car had run dry without radiator fluid. The radiator fluid lubricates the water pump. Running the engine dry (or low of) without radiator fluid damages the water pump. Running tap water instead of 50-50 or 40-60 radiator fluid mixture will also cause premature wear on the water pump because water by itself is insufficient lubricant on the water pump.

2001 Blazer Replaced heater core now water pump is squealing and seems like low circulation


my 98 Blazer I had to replace radiator water pump heatercore and hoses. Had head gasket go. Once that happens air and dexcool corrode cooling system. Do you smell antifreeze? Are you loosing antifreeze? Check oil see if its another color not clear or black but i think light brown. Have you flushed out system?

drain coolant system locate heater cores hoses going through firewall you need to buy the radiator flush kit at any auto parts stores. remove heater cores hoses from one end or buy extra long heater hoses same size as heater core hoses in vechicle at auto parts store use the flush kit when you flush through one of the heater core hoses let the other hose drain in a drain pan when you use home garden hose use low water pressure dont use garden hose to the max or you will rupture heater core. your best bet let radiator shop flush whole coolant system. because heater cores hoses are in a tight spot.make sure engine off if you just going to flush out heater core only .after flushing heater core good time to replace heater core hoses.if job too hard or complicated let radiator shop flush out radiator the engine block and heater core because if radiator stopped up or engine block stopped up the gunk and rust will reenter plug up heater core.if you tight on money you can flush out your own radiator.drain out radiator using large drain pan. remove top radiator hose and remove bottom radiator hoses connect to water pump.use garden hose with flush kit part with water pressure not too high put garden hose to top radiator hose run water until clear water run out bottom radiator hose in drain pan,the flush out engine block remove thermostat.if you had another spare thermostat housing with RTV SILICONE SEALANT THAT HAS SET UP INSTALL THERMOSTAT HOUSING BACK TO ENGINE WITHOUT THERMOSTAT FLUSH OUT THE ENGINE BLOCK, WHEN DONE INSTALL NEW THERMOSTAT THEN INSTALL ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT HOUSING WITH NEW ORING WHICH YOU BUY AT DEALERSHIP.IF ALL SOUND COMPLICATED LET RADIATOR SHOP FLUSH OUT COOLANT SYSTEM.

Check the oil, if it has water in it you have a blown head gasket, if not then You have one or more cylinders misfiring, get a tune up. then if it's still doing it you probably have burned or sticking valves.

What should i get replaced on a 2000 marquis with 122,357 miles


Check spark plugs and wiring,very easy to replace,just tape your sparl plug socket to the extension so socket can withdraw and plug usually comes with it.
Change out the rear end grease and you add anti-slip additive in proper proportion.Check drive belt,fan clutch and water pump for play,flush radiator and heater out.
Change out ****** fluid, and I will tell you a great secret......................Look on the bottom of bell housing and you'll see a plastic plug.GUESS WHAT!? By bumping the engine around or turning the crank slowly,you will see a ****** DRAIN-PLUG appear.....yes! You can drain ALL the fluid and replace it properly.
Of course you need to look under the car and check the brake lines for bad corrosion,just like on any other car.It doesn't hurt to have someone flush new brake fluid thru the calipers at that age,either.don-ohio

95 ford conversion van with a 351 engine. replaced the radiator, water pump and thermostat last year. The water pump leaked when cold and finally replaced water pump and thermostat again. Got the leak...


If you didn't do a thorough cooling system flush with the radiator replacement last year, then i would say you may have excessive build up of rust, scale and other debris. This will certainly clog up a new radiator quickly. You may still have a restriction. I would do a good flushing, including REVERSE flushing until water runs clear. This should help... I bought a 98 Dakota, it started over heating, I changed the thermostat, and when I went to flush my radiator, it was plugged. Can they put something in the radiator to temporarily make the car run good?...


Drain the coolant when it is cold and pull off the upper and lower radiator hose. Put a garden hose in the radiator neck (after removing the radiator cap) and turn the water up gradually and let it run for 15 to 20 minutes or until the flow is constant. If your water pump is not noisy or leaking and the pulley is not wobbling then you should not have to replace the water pump. You may want to flush out the block with water also. Please rate me on this answer.

I have a 79 firebird that hasn't been used for years. i want to flush all the fluids add new ones, jump the car and see if it runs. i just don't know where to start. how do i do a fluid flush?


ok.. oil simply change it and the filter don't forget to add oil to rubber ring.. water jus unhook the hose at the bottom of the radiator using pliers and make sure you have a drain pan.. you can run water through it if it is unclean, otherwise you shouldn't need to flush, then reattach hose and clamp.. fill to top.. the water pump on the vehicle will need to be rotated or cranked to get water into the engine, and refill... be careful not to crank the water pump by hand because that will mess up the timing and you will need to redo that.. tranny fluid should not be changed because if there is a certain amount of metal shavings already in it clean fluid will ruin it, but i suggest checking the fluid level and maybe topping it off if needed there should be a bolt on the side of the transmission that you can take out and put your finger in the hole and the fluid should reach the hole and no lower if it pours out its fine let it level out too much tranny fluid is just as bad as not enough.. you will need to have the car on jack stands as level as possible to do this... also you can disconnect the fuel lines at the carburetor and connect a hose to it turn the key on and the fuel pump should pump out the old gasoline..

then the water pump must be bad in it .Take the rad cap off and rev motor up if it goes down the the pump is working if it spays of look at the head gasket being damaged .Check and make sure spark plugs are not wet either if one is soaked signs of a leaky head gasket

the only thing I can recommend is to put in a flush tee not the hose going to the water pump but the one going to the engine open up the radiator and drain that first then fill with water get some radiator flush and run the car about ten minutes drain that out using the flush tee and a garden hose and run till it is clear with the engine running after clear close drain plug on radiator and fill with antifreeze and make sure to get all air bubbles out and you should start getting some heat and if you don't after doing all this replace the heater core but check the hoses coming from the heater core to make sure one of them is not plugged
