At our shop, about 25-30 bucks for the part, 20 Bucks to install, and 50 bucks for a 4 wheel alignment.. so roughly 100 bucks.. But keep in mine different shops have different labor rates.. Id replace both tie rods if it were me to get my money's worth outta the alignment.. Thanks.. ( ps) get ur own parts as most shops mark up the price

Replace steering rack on 2004 grand prix

Jim, this is not a hard job but you must do it right. I suggest you purchase the Chilton Manual for your car. Before you take it apart mark the location of the outer tie rod ends so you can have the toe-in at least close when you reassemble. You might want to replace the outer tie rod ends at the same time. If i am buying a rebuilt unit i always try to get a "A-1 Cardone complete unit" with the inner tire rod ends already factory installed.

My pass.side inner tie rod is bent due to accident.how do i replace it?

disconnect it from the outer tie rod, remove the boot from the steering rack , you will need a special tool to get at the inner rod cap, remove and install new , then get the car aligned, not an easy job and hard to get at

How much does it cost to replace a tie rod on a 1998 grand prix

the part is about $50.00, the install and the front end alignment that is needed after new part, about $200, so about $200 is an average charge in a tire shop, more at the dealer.

the inner tie rod should have 2 flat spots where the tool goes onto, then the rest is smooth sometimes very hard too see in there.,the 2flat spots are on the back side close too the rack sometimes you need too put the wrench part of the tool on first then put the outer part of thhe tool onto the other piece .an octopuss would be helpfull with all his arms
