the fuel octane won't change a thing.  Don't waste money if it's not required.

I was driving my 2002 Cadillac STS when it started to knock suddenly. Only does it when accelerating, but not neutral or park. Sounds similar to a coke can in a bicycle tire spoke

Put in a fuel injector cleaner such as Lucas. Use a higher octane gas. 91 or more. After a couple of tank fulls the Knocking should go away unless you somehow bent a pushhrod. Did you replace your timing belt/chain recently??
If not use a higher octane fuel

Been using 87 octane in '02 maxima for 1yr. have replaced oxy & nkock sensors. Is this due to low octane?

Ok the 2002 Maxima 3.5 requires premium fuel 91 octane. According to the owners manual for optimum performance use 91 octane, you can use 87 octane unless you get pinging sounds. Sounds like you just need to use the proper octane. Occasionally I will run regular 87 and can really feel a loss of power. When I use 91 octane the car is a rocket ship.

MY NISSAN TAKE LONGER THEN A CAR SHOULD TO START

One issue is using octane higher than recommended. Remember, the car has to not polute, when starting, and there is a danger about turning on the fuel pump, so some manufacturers do more "thinking" during start up, before they allow for the engine to come to life. Some designs need oil pressure to be up for timing chains to be tensioned....

DO U HAVE TO PUT PREMIUM IN A 1997 MAXIMA SE. I BOUGHT IT USED AND WAS TOLD TO DO THIS BUT IT SEEMS RIDICULOUS FOR SUCH AND OLD KINDA RUSTY 133,000 MI RIDE! PLEASE IF IT MEANS BETTER MPG OR WILL I DAMAGE...

If this is not the SE-R then no you do not need to run premium in the car. If you drive the car normal and do not drive excessively hard then defiantly no premium will be needed. Hope this helps and answers your questions!

Does a 1994 Nissan Maxima need Super or Regular Unleaded Fuel?

all cars are designed to use a minimum octane rating of 89,(regular)
but if your car is computer controlled you may find it runs better on the higher grade(fill tank/check miles on odometer,do this a minimum of 5 times to check yourself as driving styles WILL effect mpg)

Some cars actually require higher octane, if the manufacturer suggest higher octane for maximum effenciency your best advised to do so.

Posible throttle assembly/throttle actuator failure. This car has an electronic throttle, not cable operated. We have seen some issues with those and the car will do exactly what you are descibing. Revs up to about 2500 and goes only 10mph. Just a tip.
