Question about 1992 Chevrolet Camaro

1 Answer

Car will not start without starting fluid

Once the car is running it stays around 40psi. Ive cleaned out the injectors, changed the fuel regulator, cleaned out the lines, and got a new distributor.

Try smothering the injector opening with a rag after you get it started. Sometimes you can use your hand to cover the opening. Just like priming a lawn mower motor or something like that. This will send suction to the fuel pump. If this does not work you may have a bad fuel pump or bad fuel pump relay.

Was there a hose on the old one? If not, you don't have one. It is most likely your fuel pump if you are not getting fuel.

Fuel pump pulsing when i turn key on

Well the pump would not be able to flood the engine unless the pressure regulator failed or one of the injectors was stuck open.
Have you checked the regulator and injectors ? The pump relay should power the pump for 3 seconds when you turn the key switch on, and you should have around 40psi of fuel pressure in the injector line.

The fuel is not getting to the engine in my 2001 Ford Taurus. The car will start but it won't stay on. Please help

possible problems would be fuel regulator problems, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel return line, clogged fuel pickup screen, clogged fuel filter, or clogged or stuck fuel tank breather valve/line/cap. easiest things first. look for a disconnected, lose, or warn vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. next try starting the car without the fuel cap. if that works you probably need to clean or replace your gas cap. next i would check for fuel pressure. u can buy a pressure gauge from autozone for around 30 bucks and some will just do it for you. if youre pressure is good while the ign is on but when the car starts it drops your best bet is something is clogged. if it doesnt drop then you may have dirty injectors, bad spark plugs, or a bad distributor. put some injectory cleaner in there are run the car a few times, replace your plugs and wire, and have your distributor tested at autozone. if all that is fine/doesnt change anything you have an idle problem somewhere. test this by pressing the gas down a little bit while starting the car. if it stays running then you have idle problems. if so just comment and i'll help you out. i hope for your sake your regulator vacuum line is just unplugged or leaking. good luck to ya

2.o want stay running sems to lack fuel replace the fuel pump an filter getting fuel at fuel return linr but will not stay running if you give it starting fluid it runs fine till it runs out what to do...

First check the Fuel pressure regulator:
Put a fuel pressure gauge and make sure it is up to spec typically 40-60 psi
then you can check the fuel injectors:
You can remove the 4 of them and have them cleaned and checked, there is probably a local place that can do this for the cost of around 20-40 dollars an injector.

Having problems with my 1998 Saab 900 se turbo, the car would not start i thought it was due to the cold so I put the car in the garage next day the car started the next day the car started, Drove it and...

Based on the information you have provided your problem is one of two things
1.Bad fuel pump -to check this have the fuel pressure tested if above 40psi you should be able to start the vehicle. (you can borrow/rent a fuel pressure tester at an auto parts store)
2.Bad crank and cam sensors -these are what tell the injectors to fire, so if you have good fuel pressure to the injectors but still no start I would replace both the crank and cam sensors.

96s10 starting problems replaced throdle position sensor, fuelpump relay,no start shot of starting fluid fires right up and runs

Check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. You should have 60psi to 65psi with the fuel pump primed and engine not running. Once the engine has been started, there should be a 5psi drop. Make sure the fuel filter has been replaced and that the fuel pump is making at least 60psi. Anything less or more then 65psi will not activate the fuel injectors, the other thing to is that the spider injection system on the vortec are know to go bad and you may have to replace the system. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your S-10 running 100% again.

Fuel injectors leak at fuel rail

Get some new O-rings, and this time put oil on them before you insert them into the fuel rail. The regulator is alright. The problem is that the o-rings can roll up, or twist when push em in dry. Had this problem once, easy fix, but was frustrating.
