My sister in law is having a horrible time with her 2004 Impala. It doesn't accelerate well and it is idled pretty high. She has had the Spark plugs and wires replaced as well as the fuel pump and filter and the problem has not gotten better. My brother thinks it may be that her cat is clogged. Any suggestions?
It's very possible the cat is plugged, only way to tell is to drill a small hole in the exhaust right before the cat. I the exhaust is LOUD coming out of the hole when you start it up, it means there is alot of pressure building up in front of the convertor, and plugged. with the cat plugged the car will run like ****, jerky, no acceleration, etc. try to run the car down the road at 50 MPH and just BARELY touch the gas, if it seems ok, press on the gas, if the cat is plugged it will ****.

2004 Chevy Impala LS 120kmiles check engine was on for several weeks...autozone said it was probably an o2 sensor. Now light went out but service traction and abs lights are on. Any suggestions for Christine here?
