SOURCE: My 2006 Chevy Cobalt steering wheel has locked and

sounds like your steering column lock is binding you need to slightly turn the steering one way or the other while turning the key at the same time. this happens if the steering wheel is turned after removing the key. or when parked against a curb.

I replaced my ignition now my 2006 chevy equinox wont start?

There could be a lot of things going on here, need more information...
If the motor wont turn over when you turn ther key, is there enough power? Charge battery, check charging system.
If the motor turns over but does not start, could be anything from the electronics, fuel delivery etc.
If it just clicks when you turn the key it could be a starter.
Hope this at least gets you started in the right direction.

How to change key cylinder in 2006 equinox

Unsnap steering cover housing and remove top part. Look under wheel and you will see 2 screws with a 6mm bolt head and a whole between them closer to the dash. Remove both screws and in the hole you will find a 3rd screw, remove it. The lower cover will now come away. Put a working key in the ignition and turn to ACC position. On the side of the cylinder in about the 3:30 position, about 2.5 inches back you will see a poke hole. Insert a pick or straight stiff wire into the hole and depress the retainer as you turn the key just a little further to the on position. The cylinder should release at that point and slide out the front of the housing.

On my 06 equinox, I've turned off the car but my running lights stay on and the "ding ding" as if the key is in the ignition goes off. I've checked all switches and the car is off, the keys are...

Apparently the computer "thinks" that the key is in the ignition. This can be verified by scanning the body controller data while it is doing this. You will most likely end up having to replace your ignition switch to fix it. Also, if the ignition switch is replaced, the computer will have to be reprogrammed to accept the new ignition switch. Otherwise, you will have problems with your security system and the car will not start.

In my 06 Chevy Equinox I went to put the key in the ignition and the ignition wouldnt turn to start the car up?

**** the steering wheel hard side to side. That should release the interlock. Otherwise the ignition switch is worn (unusual in a 06 car unless it's an awful lot of stop and go driving).

2006 Chevy Equinox - Service Lamp Reset

Turn the ignition to run. Within three seconds push the gas pedal to the floor three times. Turn the key to off, and then start the car. The light should flash three times signifying that it reset. If it does not, try repeating the process, but instead of turning it to off after stepping on the pedal, just start the car.
