2OOO Hyundai Sonata manual transmission

I have never touched transmission fluid before! I need to have the transmission replaced altogether, but for right now, I need to throw some more tran fluid in there, because it's leaking. What kind do I use in a manual 2000? They told me at the store that I needed to go to the dealer, but I can't do that right now, with a bad transmission that needs to be replaced all together. (The dealer kinda sucks, will also charge me alot, and I have to go through the Santa Cruz mountains to get there in San Jose). So, I think I can put some fluid from the store in there for now, but what kind should I use? Thank you!!! I appreaciate any help...

I just bought trans. fuild at O'Reily's and they sold my something called Global. It says on the back that it works for Hyundai's. I haven't put it in yet, that is this afternoon's project. I also picked up something called Lucas's Stop Leak, they said it won't completely stop my leak but it will slow it down a great deal and I would just have to check it once in a while.

Call the dealer and ask them to tell you what you can use. Be careful when you add it that you don't get it too full. Add it in half quart increments until you get it where it needs to be. Check fluid level with the engine on and the trans in park.

How many quarts does a 2000 Hyundai Sonata take to fill the transmission fluid

That would depend on the transmission in the vehicle (they can be different with different models/options) and whether you are doing a "wet" or "dry" fill. A "dry" fill will use more fluid since you have to allow for fluid to fill the torque converter, which does not drain during a regular transmission fluid oil/filter change. The import thing is to not overfill! Always put a bit less in than called for, then run the car, putting transmission thru all the gears. Then recheck level and add as needed. Most vehicles require the transmission fluid check be done with the engine running. Check your owners manual for specifics.

Want to do my own trans fuild change

Ok, just make sure you use Hyundai SP3 automatic transmission fluid when you do change your fluid (7 quarts). Dexron,Mercon, and Ford transmission fluids are not compatable with Hyundai automatics. If you dont' feel comfortable about changing your fluid, a Hyundai dealership will do it for you, Just ask for a transmission fluid-flush exchange.

If someone put anitfreeze where the transmission fluid goes will i need 2 replace the whole engine?

No. your problem is in the transmission not your engine, flush transmission fluid and put new fluid is good idea to change the filter too. good luck.

I have a 2009 V6 Sonata SE with 32000 miles. Do I need to have the transmission fluid and filter changed? If so, what should this cost ? I live in Phoenix Arizona.

Not unless you are having problems now .you have a owners manual ,look in there and see when the manufacturer says that these fluids need to be changed ,You can look at the air filter and see if it needs to be changed .The transmission fluid should be good to go until around 60,000 miles or so .you need to check the level of the fluid on the dip stick ,just to make sure it is no leaking .

My auto gear box sticks in 2nd and 3r it is a tiptronic sonata year 2002

It sounds like The transmission goes into something called "Safe Mode" Which prevents any harm in coming to the transmission from usually a low fluid level. Follow proper procedure for checking your A/T fluid levels. And only use dealer A/T fluid. A universal fluid can ruin your transmission because Hyundai takes a special synthetic.

I have a 2006 Sonata and I took it in for 30K service. Our manual says that it needs itsnual was out of date. oil changed; air, oil and fuel filter replaced, and other systems inspected. It says to...

There must be a 1-800 number in your owner's manual. Call them and ask if there has been any changes to the maintenance schedule for your car and if so, what changed and when. They will tell you and then you will have an answer to your question but my guess is you are on the right track. Hope this helps.
