SOURCE: 1998 Ford F-150 won't start w/ the key, but will w/ remote start.

Make sure the key is good. If you have two keys try the other one and see if it starts. For some reason the computer is not reading the chip in the key. The keys might need to be reprogrammed.

My 2004 Ford Taurus remote starter will not start the car. All other remote options are working. How ever if I have the key in the ignition and press remote start it will start. Please help.

The problem here is the remote start system is not giving out the correct transponder code to the security system, this locks out the starter. As to how you program the remote start I have no clue as to what you need to do.

OK I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. I had a remote car starter put in about 3weeks ago. Now my car will not start. With remote or the key. I see a code P1685. Is the remote starter the reason for this

It is possible the remote starter is the problem. This code is for the security system. It will not read the key. Have you tried another key? The remote start will have a function that bypasses the security system. If this function is not operating correctly, the vehicle will not start. Contact the installer of the remote start and explain your problem to see if they can offer any advice

My remote start was working fine and now it starts the 2003 chevy silverado but the truck shuts right back down.

Does the truck start and run when you start it with the key? If it does then you have lost continuity from the remote starter module. Check the wiring that has been added to your ign. switch it may be just a loose connection.

You need to proof read your problem, confusing. Motor turning over and one starting are different. Is the remote factory? If not you need to disconnect the power to it and try again.

I had the same problem on an 08 Equinox. After jumping the battery, recharging, checking all fuses and swaping some of them, I returned to it and it started like if nothing had been wrong. Then I realized that I used a different Key and remote.
I remote locked it and used the first remote and key again and the problem came back. I went back and forth a couple of times and recreated the problem. PROBLEM was my regular key lost its program. I reprogrammed the remote and key and lived happily ever after. good luck.

When i try to start the car it starts and cuts off after 2 seconds and there is a [pass key] that lits up

sounds like the car has lost programing with the chip thats inside te key.... it may have to go to dealer for reprograming. if there is a remote car starter in the vehicle you may want to overide the bypass and try the key again.

Usually with remotes you turn the key for the ignition to the off position, then turn the ignition key eight times without starting it, on the 8th time leave the key on the forward position then push any button on your remote that should fix the remote problem.
