Question about 2000 Jaguar S-Type
My trunk is saying its open on my 2000 jag s type v8 justr started the other day plz help
There is 2 switches relating to the boot, one is on the latch the other is on the boot lid on rh side covered by a rubber cover a common problem is that the plastic boot closing panel comes loose so the switch does not oprate when boot closed try latching the boot latch manually ie.with a screwdriver.and holding the other switch compressed and see if the warning goes off, that way you may be able to isolate which switch is the problem,

There is a switch built into your latch that senses if the trunk is open or closed. You might try spraying the latch with WD-40 and working it back and forth, it might come out of it. If not you will probably need to replace the latch assembly as the switch is not serviceable separate.

I had the same problem when my alternator drained my battery.Underneath where the licence plate light is mounted there is a key hole on the right hand side.Any black headed key will open the trunk.

something wrong here .. battery tests good and starter tests good and it wont spin the engine over. ok what if you jump start it ? if it spins the engine the battery is shot.. if the starter is spinning and not turning the engine the starter or selonoid is bad .. thats got to be all there is to it .. thanks again Jerry

Have you another key and fob ?
Try lock/unlock cycle with new key + fob. Your key may be corrupted.
Try also just unlocking the car with the key (not the fob) as soon as you unlock the door put the key in the ignition immediately and see if the car starts.
If you have your radio code it may be worth trying a total reset (leave the car unlocked) disconnect the battery and leave for 20 mins. then reconnect, most systems will then reboot and this MAY help?
Failing all the above it looks like dealer time - more ££ss
good luck !
