Question about 2004 Lexus RX 330

Water leak passenger and back floor board

I have a water leak that is getting the front and rear carpet soaked. It had been pouring rain out. We took it to the dealer because it is still under warranty, and they said they couldn't find it and would have to charge us $260.00 to run more tests. Is this a common problem with this year and model? Has a solution been found?

Thank you,
Quincy

    Hi, my name is Donna,

I purchased a 2004 RX330 at the end of January 2009. As soon as it warmed up a bit we noticed a black spot on the front carpet and a very strong mold odor.

We brought the truck to an expert in our area that deals with flood vehicles etc.... He has had my truck for 10 days and finally found where the water was getting in.

At the base of the cargo door shock absorbers there is a 1/4" seem separation (near the mounting bracket). The rain water has been flowing in-between the body and soaking the carpeting. I'm already at $2000.00 with this company.

Please respond to me as we seem to have the identical problem and we need to pursue Lexus in paying for the repairs.

Mold is a very serious health issue and as the weather warms it will continue to grow.

I look forward to hearing from you. I am located in a far western suburb of Chicago

My 2004 Lexus RX330 developed the wet mat and smell problem in February. It rains heavily in Houston and this has been reoccuring. The vehicle has been in the shop for a week and they advised yesterday that it was the tail gate hinges and they would be doing some welding to fix it. I bought it as a certified vehicle so I am hoping this is covered under warranty!

If you have a moon roof and you have changed, disconnected, or ran down the battery recently. You need to normalize the moon roof for it to close properly. See your owners Manuel

Buick passenger side front and rear carpets soaking wet

The two most common causes are rain water leaking in or the ac drain being clogged up. I would vote for rain water if the entire carpet area is wet.
Could be coming in around the windshield, or one of the door gaskets.

Water leak after rain, rear floorboards soaked? HELP!

a couple things to look at if it has a sunroof the sun roof would have drain hoses that run down in each corner next you need to look at the cowl this is the section in front of the windshield that has a drain on it as well if you find nothing there the next step would be to remove the seats and carpet and sit in the car while running water over it either way you should remove the carpet and make sure it is dry all the way threw or mold will start to grow and you will never get ride of it not good for your heath other key spots to look at is if the windshield was ever replaced it could be a poor seal

2002 suburban has leak in driver side rear floor. Cannot see where water would be coming from?

We had same--water on driver side rear floor (soaked!). Driver side front floor seemed dry until feeling UNDER rug, was slightly damp. We found the location of TWO leaks causing this.

Leak #1 was through the parking brake line/cable seal; Recaulked with silicone. Removed plastic trim on floor between floor and door to reveal metal channel filled with water.

Leak #2 was where the door meets the car, near the hinge. It was the accordian-looking tube housing the wiring for the door. The big, rubber, circular plug connecting it to the main part of the car had come loose and water ran down through that, into the SAME metal channel filled with water from leak #1; will seal with silicone.

Note: We found that the channel filled extensively near the front door, BUT the carpet edge from the floor near the rear seat was dipping into it, wicking it up to the rear floor. Also, upon acceleration, the water in the channel gushed toward the back, thus soaking the rear carpet.

These leaks were found by removing all plastic trim (covering edges of carpet by doors), then one of us pouring water into specific areas of the exterior of the vehicle, and the other one watching closely with a flashlight for any signs of dripping.

Water leaks into right side floor board during a blowing rain?

My 06 was leaking during rain also. It turned out to be the sunroof. There are two drain tubes in the front of the sunroof that run the water down the corners to the ground and two drain tubes that drain water out the back corners. The water would seep around the glass, which is expected, but both of the tubes on the front of mine were plugged, and the water would overflow behind the dash and fill my floorboards. If my H3 was leaning to the left during a storm then the drivers side would be full of water. If leaning right, then the passenger side. I had to open sunroof and blow compressed air into the drain holes to clear them, but be careful, too much air will separate tubes from sunroof and then you will have to remove the inside paneling around sunroof to get to tubes and reconnect. You may only have one side plugged. you can test it by opening sunroof and pour a little water in the small catch pan in the front of the sunroof and see if it drains as expected (to the ground under the firewall on left AND right side). You can see the holes in each corner of catch pan to drain the water. Plug one with your finger, then the other to find the plugged side. Good luck!! Hope this helps!!

Wet floors on passenger side after it rains.

Is it possible the water is actually coming from the A/C evaporator case, whose DRAIN IS CLOGGED ? The water produced by the A/C then leaks out of the case, down under the carpeting, then depending how vehicle is parked, can flow to the rear floors and carpet. Hope this helps

Water leak on fwd and back passenger side after every rain storm

pull your carpet up near the leak area and look for muddy body seams. it is possible one of the factory body seams are leaking- possibly in the cowl(under wipers) area, especially if it leaks when the car is sitting. there will be dirt/mud around the seams that are leaking. also you can check door seals by running the car on HIGH DEFROST with all doors and windows closed. spray around with a 50/50 soapy water solution. obviously bubbles will form around your leak.

2002 Toyota RAV4 passenger side floor Water

Hi, we also have a 2002 Toyota Rav4 and developed a leak in the front driver's side of the car. After much research, we discovered that the drain wells from our sun/moon roof were clogged. If you have one of these, I suggest that you open the sun roof and look carefully. You will notice some tiny little holes in front and in the rear of the sun/moon roof tracks. Over time, these become clogged with dust and debris. You need to find a long, sturdy piece of thin wire and run it down the holes. To test if you have properly unclogged these, take a small amount of water and pour it down the holes. You should see water coming out of the drain wells under the car around the rear of the front tires. Hope this helps.

Interior Carpet Getting Wet

It sounds like a plugged drain line from the air conditioner. Most cars now run in the a/c mode whenever u turn on the climate control (even when heat is on). The passenger side front is where it would be wet, and the carpet and carpet pad act like a sponge and will soak up the water. Let me know how u make out.
