Thanks - can you clarify what "operate the transmitter" means? Do I go thru steps 1-3 five times, or just press the lock or unlock button 5 times in succession?

    Thanks for your help!

    Re: Programming Keyless Remote

Is this procedure specific to only one particular model year or does it apply accross a span of particular model years.

Also, if already have one functioning remote and adding second, will current functioning remote need to be reprogrammed?

This procedure seems to contradict two other clarification posts on March 12, 2009. Which comment is truly accurate?

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote

  1. Hold headlight flasher back.
  2. Turn ignition key to position 1.
  3. Flash headlights 4 times. Alarm will enter programming mode. This will be confirmed by "beeps" from the alarm and flashing led on gearshift. Program each transmitter (up to 5) by pressing the lock or unlock button on the each transmitter once. The alarm will "honk" when you press the transmitter button. The alarm must honk 5 times to complete the programming. Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should operate the transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will operate one transmitter twice, and three times on the other. For five transmitters you will operate each transmitter once.

Very noisy squeky fron suspension on jaguar xj8

You might need a lube job or you may need to see if noise is coming from another place such as your engine water pump, brakes, power steering. Look for leaks.

Programming the garage door opener

I know what the problem is but never tried to resolve it. I have a 1998 XJ8 and went through the same problem. After numerous attempts to program the 4 channel built in opener I researched the problem and learned that the system in the car actually changes the code after every use. It's a security feature built in to the system. I simply started keeping my remote in the car.

There must be a way to disable the automatic randomizer so it retains the code from your remote opener everytime. Check with the dealer to see if it can be disabled and you will be in business. Please post the info if you get it.

Good Luck!
