Dome light stays on as if a door is open and alarm sounds too
The car is behaving as though a door is open when it is not. If a door were to be open the dome light would stay on, also you couldn't lock the door with autolock button which you can't. Also when you put the car in gear it is supposed to lock the doors but it won't as though a door is open and then to top all this when you leave the car and have locked it the alarm will go off all on its own at all hours of the day and night. The dealer can't even figure this out....help!

the light stays on it usually means a door is open or the switch on a door or
liftgate/trunk is bad. If the door adjar button is seperate from the latch
assembly I pull the switch from the body and jump it out. Go one by one and you
will find the failed switch. If the switches check ok and the connector is
jumped and the light is still on then there is an open in the wires for the door
ajar switch Here are more procedures for troubleshooting...
Possible causes are :
1. Door switches stuck in closed position. Remove the rubber cover and loosen
the screw holding the door switch. Pull out switch and check if the light stays
on....if light remains on, fault is not with switches.
2. Anti-theft system ECU shorted. One of the wire goes to the alarm control
unit. Unplug the alarm unit, if equipped and test.
3. Shorted interior dome light. If dome light is not working in the door ajar
mode, remove the dome light and unplug the connector. If indicator light does
not go off, fault is not with dome light.
4. Shorted Red/White wire. This would be the most difficult to diagnose as
the shorting can be anywhere between the door switches to the indicator light.
If you had done any wiring repairs prior to this happening, backtrack to check
if any part of the wire is exposed and grounding
One of the doors "thinks" it is open. That will make light stay on, power door locks will not operate and alarm will not arm itself. If the indicator shows which door is open, then check on the door frame for the door ajar pin / switch. Move it by hand repeatedly to see if it is stuck or misaligned. If unable, then pull the pin out to check the connection, and if still no help, then bridge (short) the cables to see if dome light goes out. If this is the case, then replace the pin.
Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?
You may have a bad door switch. The alarm is usually wired into the door adjar switch amongst other things. If the alarm system is being told that your door is still adjar due to a bad switch in the door jam then it's quite possible that the alarm system will not operate the locks if it thinks the door is adjar in which is also evident by the dome light staying on. Sounds like a switch. If not the switch then I would lean more towards the alarm system being responsible.
Good Luck. I hope this has at least narrowed down your search if not pinpointed it.
