I doubt it.
The map sensor reads manifold vac and sends a signal to the computer. If the signal is out of range, the check engine light should come on. If the check engine light is on, that might affect trans performance.

SOURCE: Transmission won't shift properly (2 wd ) speedo does not work

Its weird but I had a fuse blow out awhile back that is the same fuse that works the cab lights when you open the doors. When this fuse went out it also made it shift odd and hard when it did shift. Since it is only intermittent in your case, It may just be a weak fuse.

2011fordf150 code po735

code p 0735 refers to gear 5---incorrect ratio===causes --wiring--TR sensor /switch---shift solenoid---transmission mechanical fault
if there are no abnormal noises or problems being experienced with the transmission
leave that as a cause to absolute last resort
wiring condition , connections not corroded , tight etc , first , then check the TR sensor /switch for operation
take it to an accredited auto transmission specialist shop for a proper diagnosis and quote

Hot weather auto transmission shifting problem

Often this kind of problem it is caused from faulty throttle position sensor, you find out by connecting a code reader to your car computer.
throttle position sensor tells to your transmission control module how you are using the throttle, so that the car automatic transmission can shift to right gear, when this is faulty often you have transmission faults related to engine rpms and temperature, this can explain a trans problem happening only when engine is hot.
In some case it is not the sensor, but the computer module controlling transmission that is faulty.
To find out cause for the problem you need to connect a code reader to transmission module and to main computer module (ECU).
The code reader will return fault codes that allow to locate the problem. this kind of job can be done at any qualified garage.

Automatic transmission works in reverse, low and second, but is motionless in drive and overdrive

Yes the wire and hose could be the problem. The hose may have caused a loss in transmission fluid and pressure in the transmission. The wire may go to a main sensor which would cause it to not shift properly.

Transmission doesn't shift, stays in one gear "limp home mode". Is this a module problem? It seems to cause MIL check engine light to come on. This happens sporadically.

The point you are at now is when you should have a good transmission shop do a "ride along" scan test to determine if the problem is in a control unit or the trans itself. The control module takes information from the engine management system as well so if something such as your throttle position sensor on the throttle body has failed (or even the map sensor) the trans control may not allow proper shifting.
While it is possible to do continuity and individual component tests on the entire system,(to a point) the fastest and most accurate means of diagnosis is to have a shop do that for you. Then, if you want, do the actual repair work yourself!

Recently changed my engine, now the transmission, not changing gears or shifting properly

Check your wire harness to the transmission located on the drivers side under the battery, look for any damaged or disconnected wire harness and also inspect the wire leads to the harness at your TCM (transmission control module) located on the passenger side fender. Check the fuse to your TCM and don't forget to check the fuses under the dash on the drivers side, replace any fuse that has gone bad.
Good luck and hope this helps, 85% of the time it's going to be a electrical issue that causes your transmission not shift properly. The other causes for your transmission issues are: TPS sensor and the input speed sensor and out put speed sensor in your transmission.
Thank you for using Fixya and start with the simple and check the fuses and wire harness. Good luck

Was your issue the range selector switch (a.k.a. range sensor, prindle switch, park/neutral safety switch). Part # 37720-86z01?

It is located on the outside of the transmission on the front side (not between the transmission and the firewall). You can open the hood and put an eye on it.

Be VERY sure to alignment it properly AND to clear the code.

If this helps, please say so!

Will not shift into overdrive. 1987 ford mustang gt with AODE transmission.

Some possible causes for the A4LD transmission are:

1. Case connector and/or harness not seated.
2. 3-4 shift solenoid (3-4 solenoid wire pin 52 should read
approx 20 ohms)
3. Powertrain Control Module
4. Vacuum line disconnected from MAP sensor.
5. Map sensor
6. Throttle position sensor
7. Vehicle speed sensor

You may want to check to see if you have any codes as it will let you know if one of the sensors are at fault. Hope this helps, good luck.
