REPLACE FUEL FILTER & AD A FEW BOTTLES OF DRY GAS TO YOUR FUEL TANK ALONG WITH ADDING A TANK OF FRESH GAS AS WELL.THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM & ALSO THE LIGHT MIGHT NEED TO BE RESET AS WELL BY THE COMPUTER RESETTING PROCEDURE.IF THIS CONTINUES TAKE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE AS WELL.

SOURCE: I have a ford f250

Sounds like an ECU issue.  check your fuses, see if you can get an error code from a scanner, they have one at most checker auto stores that you can use for free.  Could be a Intake Air Temp sensor or a Throttle Position Sensor.  Thats what I would start with.  Good luck.

I have this 2004 F-250 diesel since September 2010.....it runs great. However, recently the water in fuel light came on. I bought both the upper and lower fuel filters and changed them. The light came...

i had the same problem with my f250 diesel, i had got all the filters changed, and it still came on, the drain plug was stripped so i took it to a dealer, they ordered a new housing and gasket, and i niticed they changed the wiring harness for it, was an updated one , so i suspect you need to replace the harness , aprox 30 bucks, and the housing was aprox 220 dollars if it needs replacing.

WIF light comes on and off sporadically causing engine to idle down. drained HCFM? problm still comes and goes. this has been going on for quite some time. light does not stay on, ever. even glow plug...

Your engine should be the 6.0, where did you drain water from? The place to drain water is the fuel pump on the rail. The only way to get the water out is to remove the allen-head screw that you will see halfway down the electric fuel-pump, on the bottom-side. Let me know if that is what you see and how it went. Also if we are are talking about the same fuel system your fuel filter kit should include two fuel cartridge filters.

I have fuel coming out from under the engine when I have a cold start. Is there a fix for this? I also am getting very poor fuel economy. Please help

Ok, then I assume it is a diesel, and then it is probably the fuel filter drain valve that is broken or open.
It is the yellow handle at the bottom of the filter canister.
Here is a video of fuel filter and draining operation, to show what I mean.
