Question about 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
The speedodmeter, fuel, trip meter, and temp guages all work but the odometer does not
I think the speedo head is probably good. You need to check the speedo cable and the gear at the end of the cable housing. If the gear is cupped in the center it is worn out. Replace the gear by the color code at your local Ford dealer. The other scenario would be that the gear on the output shaft is worn also. This would require the tailshaft be removed from the tranny and the nylon gear replaced on the output shaft. Good luck.

I just repaired mine. The gears that operate the odometer and trip mileage are plastic. With time, the plastic becomes fragile and teeth break off. Replacement gears are available on line. I paid about $30 for a set for the odo (trip indicator gears were damaged also, but didn't bother). If your speedo works, but odo doesn't, then pull the cluster and open it up (not complicated) to check the gears (black plastic).
