Question about Isuzu Cars & Trucks

Open Question

My radiator sensor buzzer comes onand off while i am driving and if i stop and open the radiator cap i find that there is now water inthe top tanks of the radiator. I've change the radaitor cap, send the radiator in to be fushed and replace the sensor and relay board. Is there something else that i can check or change?

Sounds like Clutch in your fan

The coolant level is right on, no hoses are leaking and the accessory belt is intact. You start the engine, let it idle and make a visual inspection. There's no sign of belt slippage.
If your car is like most, the cooling fan is mounted to its drive pulley via a clutch. Clutch fans operate at different speeds under different conditions to help reduce drain on the engine and to save fuel. When the engine is hot, the clutch fan runs nearly as fast as the engine. When the engine is cold, the fan runs much more slowly.
The fan clutch operation is regulated by a valve that is opened and closed by a thermostatic spring. The valve controls the flow of a viscous silicone fluid between chambers in the clutch assembly. When the engine is cold, the clutch is essentially disengaged, which is why the fan runs at its slowest compared to the engine's speed. As the engine warms up, the air flowing to the fan assembly becomes hotter. The hotter air causes the thermostatic spring to unwind and open the valve. Silicone fluid from the reservoir chamber flows into the main chamber, engaging the clutch, and the fan spins faster (though it's still slightly slower than the engine.

I take it this only happens when the vehicle is stopped & idling? If not, check radiator & hoses for blockage (since you've already replaced the thermostat & top hose) - repair/replace as needed. Next, check the coolant temperature sensor's operation (there are two sensors - one for the temp gauge on the instrument panel, the other is used by the ECM (PCM). If that one is malfunctioning (i.e., telling the computer that the engine coolant temperature is less than it actually is, The ECM (PCM) it won't turn on the cooling fans.
Since you didn't specify which engine you have (i.e., 2.4, 2.6 or 3.5), Photo locations of all three are included here.

The radiator coolant warning light comes on on my holden Astra 1.8 litre manual hatch(2000 model);however there is plenty of coolant and the engine thermostat shows normal temperature?


Hi,its always better to have these thing working as they are ment to,if you look at the exspantion tank where you fill it up with coolent you will see a switch with wires comeing from it ,it will ether be in the lid or on thtank some where,take the wires off and join them together then start the car if the light has gone out you will need to replace the sensor,all the best.

I have a T reg Peugeot 106, the temperature light keeps coming on even thou I've topped the oil up. Any info plz


Topping up the oil has very little bearing on engines overheating.

You need to remove the radiator cap and top up the cooling system with anti-freeze and water mixed to specifications. Note that I mention RADIATOR CAP and not the expansion reservoir cap. Remove the radiator cap with the engine COLD. Once you have filled the radiator, you need to run the engine until it gets to full operating temperature. Some of the water will overflow out until the thermostat opens, then the water level will rise and fall. When it has settled, bubbles have stopped, turn the engine off, top up one last time. Replace the radiator cap and then top up the reservoir tank.

How do i change the radiator fluid?


Most radiators have a drain plug on the bottom tank the engine block also has a drain plug . Remove the radiator cap ,open both drains ,let all the coolant run out, if there is no radiator plug remove the lower hose , remove the heater demister hoses, with the heater control on hot flush out all the coolant from the heater radiator. with a garden hose, till the water runs clean, tighten the radiator plug or re fit the hose,put a garden hose into the radiator and flush out till the water at the block plug runs clean ,refit the heater hoses, refit the block plug, fill the radiator from the hose leave the cap off , If it has a overflow tank clean and flush it. start and run engine for 5 minutes top up radiator if needed . stop engine and drain out all water. most important that all old coolant is drained out, only buy the best coolant you can . If you make up your own use only distilled water. keep some to top up with never mix with another brand. Fill radiator with coolant top up over flow tank, run engine top up coolant as needed, refit radiator cap run for another 10 minutes check for leaks,

Water comes out of cap after I stop


When you stop the engine heat is still being generated inthe engine from all the hot bits. As there is now no water circulation through the radiator these cause local boiling which pushes the watemp right up. The pressure generated by this rise in temperature opens the cap expelling water. I would find the cause of the engine running hot to start with. Faulty fan /fan motor,failed viscous fan hub, thermostat blocked radiator are a few starting points

get an ABRO radiator stop leak warm up engine for 5minutes open radiator filler cap slowly pour all content into radiator add up water to fill replace cap and drive.

Cant find the valve to let air pressure from my radiator for my water to flow right

I changed our my rediator and now the sensor light saying radiator coolant is low and the buzzer won't stop going off. The radiator coolant level is fine and my temp gauge is fine. Any help would be...


Do you have an overflow tank that has low level in it?
LEVEL CHECK The coolant level should be checked regularly. Serious engine damage can occur if the engine overheats. CAUTION
Check the coolant level when the engine is cold; serious injury could result from escaping steam or hot fluid if checked when hot. If your car is equipped with an electric cooling fan, make sure that the ignition switch is OFF. The cooling fan will automatically operate if the ignition switch is on and the engine coolant temperature is high, or if the wiring connector on the thermostat housing is disconnected.
  1. Depress the button on the thermal expansion tank (coolant recovery reservoir) safety cap, if there is one. Allow all of the pressure trapped in the system to escape. CAUTION
    The radiator is not factory-equipped with a safety cap. Do not remove the radiator cap before removing the expansion tank cap, or when the engine is hot. Fig. 1: Remove insects and debris from the radiator fins 85811096.gif

  2. Remove the expansion tank cap. The expansion tank should be 1⁄3 full, unless Full and Low marks are provided. The level should be well above the bottom of the tank when the engine is cold.
  3. If it is not, carefully remove the cap from the radiator. The radiator should be full.
  4. Add a 50/50 solution of ethylene glycol (or other suitable coolant) and clean water. If there was no coolant in the expansion tank, fill the radiator until the level is near the inlet port and install the radiator cap. Then, fill the expansion tank to the specified level, and secure the expansion tank cap. When checking the coolant level, the pressure cap should be examined for signs of age or deterioration. Check it for a worn or cracked gasket. If the cap doesn't seal properly, fluid will be lost and the engine will overheat. A worn cap should be replaced with a new one. The fan belt and other drive belts should be inspected and adjusted to the proper tension. (Please refer to the belt inspection and adjusting procedures, earlier in this section.) Remove the radiator cap and run the tip of your finger around the inside of the filler neck. Check for excessive deposits of rust or scale around the filler neck lip and the filler port. Make sure the coolant is free of oil. Replace the coolant as necessary. Hose clamps should be tightened, and soft or cracked hoses replaced. Damp spots, or accumulations of rust or dye near hoses, the water pump or other areas indicate possible leakage, which must be corrected before filling the system with fresh coolant. Periodically clean any debris, leaves, paper, insects, etc. from the radiator fins. Pick the large pieces off by hand. The smaller pieces can be washed away with water pressure from a hose. Carefully straighten any bent radiator fins with a pair of needle nose pliers. Be careful as the fins are very soft. Don't wiggle the fins back and forth too much. Straighten them once and try not to move them again.

How to drain radiator


hello. on the drivers side of radiator is a drain. here is a picture and the instructions for draining the coolant out.



  • Install a tube on the radiator drain. Place the end of the tube in the drain pan.
  • After the engine cools down, remove the radiator cap.
  • Completely open the radiator drain ****.
  • Allow the coolant to drain from the system until the flow stops.
  • Place a drain pan under the block drain hole plug.
  • Remove the drain hole plug from the engine block.
  • Allow the coolant to drain from the block until the flow stops. There may be more drainage from the radiator at this time.
  • Install the block drain hole plug.
  • Close the radiator drain ****.

    How do i put coolant in a polo 1.4 year 2000


    open radiator and fill the radiator. open expasion tank and fill it to the FULL mark.
    start the engine with the radiator cap off. keep topping the radiator up as the air comes through the system and the level goes down. keep it FULL. top up the expansion tank if necessary back to the full mark, do not fill it to the top you will only get coolant all over your engine bay!
    gently rev the engine for 20 seconds just to send the water round and get some air out of the system. top up both radiator and tank again if required. refit the radiator cap and expansion tank cap. go for short drive. check the levels again (be careful with the radiator cap since the coolant will be hot now!) - should be settled now.

    The water (coolant) in the expansion tank will rise and fall with the engine temperature. What the expansion tank does is collect and return coolant to and from the engine. When the engine warms up the coolant gets hot, builds up pressure and opens up the radiator cap. The coolant then goes into the expansion tank. Now when the engine cools down the pressure drops in the cooling system and the pressure drop (vacuum) pulls the coolant back into the engine via the radiator cap. The radiator cap allows the cooling system to build up pressure and by doing so increases the boiling point of the coolant, but when that pressure exceeds the caps rating the cap opens and the coolant goes to the expansion valve. The cap has another part to it that when the engine cools down and a partial vacuum is created in the cooling system a "valve" in the radiator cap opens and allows the coolant to be drawn back into the engine. I would look at your radiator cap to see if any gunk or build up is on it, and check the rubber gaskets for cracks. It's easiest just to replace the cap because they are inexpensive and easy to replace (2-10 dollars). The expansion tank should have two hoses on it. The one on the bottom comes from the radiator and the one on the top (possibly part of filler cap) runs down and is open to the ground. That way if it is overfilled or becomes overfilled it will slowly leak onto the ground. When and if you change your radiator cap, make sure the engine is cooled down, remove cap and start engine and turn heater to full blast, full heat. Leave the cap off and let it run until engine warmed up. This should burp out any air pockets that may have happened when coolant was changed. Also top off the coolant in the radiator while it is running. Hope this helps and good luck
