SOURCE: 2007 Hyundai Elantra AC Problem

The basic warranty to your Sonata is 5 years or 60,000 miles, If it's just low on R134a and needs to be recharged. that will be a cost to you, but if there is a problem like a expansion valve that has gone bad or the a/c compressor going bad. That cost will be there's, you can call around to see how much it would cost to recharge your system or you can complain to the dealer since if you are loosing R134a. There must be a leak in the system and that should still be covered. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

SOURCE: need to replace dash board backlights - 2004 hyundai elantra

trying to do the same on my 01. ready to change the bulb but can't find it anywhere.
anyhow, here's how you do it:

remove the dash by taking out 2 screws behind the ashtray and 2 above the instrument cluster
begin prying off the dash from the ashtray up, when you reach the heater vents stop. next take a flat head screwdriver and pry off the dash from the left side with the door open. work left to right till you reach the heater vents and it'll come right off. you don't necessarily have to unplug any of the electric connectors if you don't want to, but you;ll have to reach around the dash while working. all you need to do now is remove the heater control unit via the 4 screws around it, then unplug the electric harnesses from the back of it. make sure you remember which goes where. the bulbs are the 3 white (or is it 2 white and 1 grey) circles on the back of the control unit. just turn them with a flathead screwdriver and turn it over and give it a little bump to get 'em to fall out (or grab 'em with a needle nose pliers if necessary). anyhow, that's how it's done, question is, where do ya find the bulbs?

Hi I am loosing water on my Mercedes W203 270CDI 2004 . .

You apparently have a coolant leak in your heater core that's mounted under the dash on the right side of your vehicle. If carpet is damp, yes, it's leaking. And makes no difference what country or side of the road you drive on friend, your heater core still needs repaired.

2003 Buick rendezvous floor board is staying damp. what could cause this

Have you noticed the smell of coolant inside the car? If you're in a cooler climate, does your defroster put a slippery coating on your windshield on cold days? If you answered yes to either of these, you may have a leak in the heater core in your HVAC system. Check to see if your coolant level is going down. If so, you need to have the heater core replaced.

If this is not the case, and you run your air conditioning often in a humid climate, the hose that empties condensation from your HVAC unit may be plugged (it is usually found low on the engine side of the firewall, on the passenger side). If you do not notice water dripping under your car with the air conditioner running, this may be the case.

Why does my car smell like antifreeze when I put the mode selector control to panel?

You didn't state if you were in heat, A/C, or vent mode.

But, the "heater" in a car gets it's heat from the liquid in the coolant system (which is why it takes a little bit for the heater to start putting out warmth, as the coolant has to heat up first).

Over time, some cars will have the "heater core" start leaking (usually from rust), which might cause an "anti-freeze" smell inside the passenger compartment.

Look for a fluid leak on the passenger side, under the dash, on the foot well and up on the firewall (under the carpeting), and also on the forward side of the firewall.

on the passenger side of the car look under the hood on the firewall you should find a drain line for the AC system make sure it is open and will drain if that does not fix ur problem you should lok at the heater core .

Smell and white smoke coming thur ac vents

Your heater core has developed a leak (of coolant). The smell is the "sweet" smell of ethylene glycol,
a component of engine coolant. The white smoke is steam coming from the heated coolant evaporating.
The coolant is dripping into your duct work under the dashboard, and apparently being evaporated
out of the ductwork and sent into the passenger compartment, meaning its a small leak.
When the leak gets worse, you may get wet carpet on the front passenger side.

The wind shield foggs up unless the fan in fully.

This will happen when you have a moisture problem in you r vent system. This is usually caused by the heater core starting to leak. I need you to check the passenger side of the car, under the dash. feel around the floor for dampness( should be right under the plastic panel under the dash). Also do you smell a faint coolant odor? This may also happen if you have a seal leak around the blower housing under the hood, against the firewall. Check these and make sure. hope this helps

There is a smell like antifreeze when I used the fan, especialy for the wind shield

what is happening, is your starting to get a leak in your heater cord or the hoses that attach to it. it's allowing a small amount of coolant to leak out. check the passenger side of the car in the front just under the dash to see if it is damp. your heater core is behind the plastic wall under the dash. the vent right there is taking that smell of the coolant through the vents.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee smell anifreez incar here water going back and worth but se no leak but have to re fill water once a weak.cant find leak under dash . but here water go back and forth wile...

the water sound i believe is from being low in antifreeze..if you are adding water oncce a week then there is a leak.. try looking on the inside of the car on the passenger side carpet to see if its wet..if not, then check things under the hood such as, heater hoses for heater core, water pump, thermostat housing, radiator, core plugs, block heater..if the smell is coming from the inside and there is a film on the window, then chances are you need a heater core....try that.

Leak onto floorboard

Here is what all dealers do to find water leaks, we spray a fine mist of water on the car near where the water might be comming in with a spray nozzle, someone gets inside the car and look for the leak, there is no other way, and I have been doing this 30 years.

Heater core leak ??

Yes it is a heater core leak, here is how to change it.

Remove battery cables. you have to remove the upper dash pad on this paticular year model. with a 10 mm socket and a 1/2 inch extension remove the 5 retaining bolts. remove the blower assembly under the passenger side of dash. remove passenger side seat and center counsole. drain radiator. disconnect hoses from now exposed heater core. turn it 180 degrees and slide out. Replace in reverse order.
