I noticed that when I park the car for a week on a spot, there is oil seen on the floor at the bottom of the engine. Also, when I use the car and park it, after 2 hours drops of engine oil can be seen where it was parked actually this happens ocassionaly. I have not looked under it to find out where the oil is leaking from but my guess is the area where the engine oil can be drenched from the engine. I am not absolutely sure and require help from the experts. Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi,just reading with interest" Ianhende's" problem with his 406, I have the same sort of problem with a 2002 406 hdi (110) i.e hazards going off, plus central locking turning on & off whilst driving. have replaced battery, the mechanic is thinking that it is to do with a faulty door lock, any ideas out there ????
i had the same problem, in behind the glove box there is a black cigarette sized box, this was faults on my 406 coupe and the speedo didn't owrk, or suddenly it shot from 0 while dribing up to 30 or what ever my speed was, it also wrecked my powersteering rack trying to drive it, as it made terrible noises as its speed sensitive. you local peugeot dealer will be able ot get you one. i can't remember how much it cost, sorry.
HI, the best thing to ensure the right choice of repair is to look under the vehicle and inspect the oil pan and plug. you will notice on site where the leak is during this inspection. Considering the miles on this vehicle, the oil consumption is quite normal. you will have to replace the valve seal and rings soon. most oil consumption will occur around the 90-100,000 mile mark. Most likely, this oil leak will be coming from the oil pan itself but, it always good to inspect it before you buy new parts.
