Question about 1999 Nissan Frontier

Air bag light is blinking on and off

I had to disconnect the air bag sensor unit to do some repairs. I reconnected it but the indicator light is blinking on and off. The sensor box is rusty but looks to be intact. Is there some way to test it without triggering the air bag?

You can disconnect the battery for a few minutes. This will reset the computer. Re-connect the battery.
If the problem continues, you should call up auto parts stores to find one that has the meter for error code read-out. Get the code to find the problem. The read-out is free. Try Advance Auto, AutoZone etc.

    Chevy air bag warning

some times these things get a hiccup, the way you can check is to disconnect the battery for a minute and then reconnect it and start the car, if the airbag stays on there is a problem, if it stays off you are good to go. if the airbag light stays on after battery disconnect you can check the wire plug ins under the seats, they are always bright yellow, sometimes people push things under the seats and disturb the plugs. also the air bag modules are sometimes under the carpet in the back and if you have a rain leak and water gets under there it can cause a problem. On my van the rear wiper was on the same fuse with the air bag so when the wiper blew the fuse the air bag light would come on so check your manual and see if there is some other component on the same circuit as the air bag and if there is check that fuse

    TROUBLE CODE CLEARING

    1. Follow the diagnostic procedures to service the fault condition flashing on the air bag indicator prior to code clearing.

    2. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then to RUN.

    3. Observe air bag indicator prove-out (six ? two seconds) followed by diagnostic trouble code (52-85) flashing completely one time.

    4. Locate the Diagnostic "Trouble Code Clear" Connector (grey connector). located underneath the glove compartment, left side (06010) containing Circuits 631 (T/R) and 57 (BK).

    5. Use a jumper wire to short Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK) or to another good ground. This short must be made after the diagnostic trouble code flashes completely one time, but before the warning light stays on continuously.

    6. Hold short until air bag diagnostic monitor tone sounds (approximately five seconds).

    7. Release short on Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK). This short must be released within 25 seconds after the diagnostic monitor tone sounds.

Diagnostic trouble code is now cleared from memory. Next highest priority diagnostic trouble code stored (if one exists) will begin flashing.

The codes and clearing proceedure above are to be used as a guide, NO claims are implied as to the correctness or accuracy of either.

My airbag warning indicator turns ON. What could be the problem and how do i fix it?

Welcome to Fixya.com. If your warning light is on it is indicating a problem within the system. Disconnect battery for 10 mins to let all the residual power out of system. If , after you reconnect battery, light stays on you will need to take car to some one who has the right tools to work on it. Tools as in computer that can hook up to the air bag system and communicate with the air bag computer. Regards, Lee Davidian

My air bag light on my 2000 Ford Econoline van flashes a 19 code. Does anyone know what that means?

Seems to be a very common problem with Ford. The wiring harness beneath the drivers seat contains the sensors for the airbag system. Go under the drivers seat and secure all the wires and clips. This makes most error lights for the airbags go away. Hope this helps and good luck!

    Air bag light blinking

get this checked out asap. This indicates the air bag system has a problem, and may not deploy in the event of an accident. Did you just purchase the car w/ this problem, or have u had it a while? I ask, because if u purchased it w/ the blinking light, it could indicate the car was in an accident, the air bag deployed, and it wasn't replaced when repairs were made. That's the worse case scenario, get it checked, hopefully it's something not that serious. Let me know how u make out Curt
