Question about 1985 Chevrolet Caprice
I killed the battery by leaving the lights on, and tried to jump it with no success. it would crank a couple times at first, but then stopped alltogether. i got the battery charged at autozone, put it back in with no success. it wont crank at all anymore, and the battery is only a couple years old. and ideas?
First off you need to know if you battery is good and has good connections at the cables. Turn your headlight on and see if they light up. If they do then you should have a connection. You could still have a weak battery though. If you try to crank the engine over with the headlights on and the lights go dead , then suspect the battery is weak , faulty, or a cable connection problem. If you try to crank engine over and the starter clicks but will not turn the engine over , it could be a faulty starter or weak battery. Start at the battery and eliminate possibilities. Even a couple year old battery could fail from being frozen or overcharged. Last resort, buy a new battery and make sure the cable connections are super clean and tight, no corrosion.

Sounds like the battery may have a dead cell. When they charged it at autozone did they test it to make sure it was still good? most times if you run an old battery completely dead it will not recharge all the cells.
