I own a 2004 chevy z71. general motors did not put an external fuel filter on these trucks in 2004. EPA was trying to get them to do things with as few connectons on the fuel system as possible so there wouldn't be as many places to leak!!!! the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump/sender unit. it is all one piece design you cant even see the filter whith the pump removed you have to change the complete pump assy. i recomend using an oem part from you chevy dealer. parts house pumps dont usually last that long. i work at a carquest and we get bad pumps back alot they dont usually last but about 3 months

Under the truck, driver side, along frame rail. It's a round cylinder type thing. If you are going to replace it, loosen the gas cap to release the pressure in the system. There will be some leakage, when you take the fuel lines off, so be careful. When you put the new one on, make sure the arrow on it is pointing toward the front of the truck.

I am willing to bet money that it is either in the tank or right outside. My buddy has an 01 silverado and it is a black box right in front of the tank but they move stuff around year to year. I will tell you that they operate at up to 60psi and they don't come apart so checking their condition is darn near impossible.

My Ford F150 engine stopped running at low RPM.. I wonder if it's bad gas? Clogged Fuel filter?

The first thing to check is the Fuel pressure at the Fuel Injector Rail schrader valve. You can get an inexpensive test kit at Harbor Freight. The pressure should be between 28 and 45 psi with the engine running. If it is lower than that you can replace the filter. If that doesn't cure the pressure problem then the pump is next. diesel engine surging could have partially clogged fuel fiter, fuel injectors could be worn or dirty, fuel pump could be failing, i would replace fuel filter first have fuel injectors checked out, if you see check engine light flashing have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.also replace air filter, diesel engine needs good volume air to work efficiently.

I have a '91 Volvo 240 that will not start. 3-4 weeks ago I replaced both fuel pumps, the in-tank pump one weekend the outside pump the next. After the second pump change I started noticing a fuel...

Based on the condition of the plugs it sounds like its running rich. I almost wonder if someone sold you the wrong pumps and you have too much pressure or something.

Could also very well be whacked injectors. I am thinking it may even be a timing issue...

I have problems with the gas in a 2003 silverado cab 1/2 4.8 engine what can i ado to fixed

Wore tires and uneven tire pressure can make you loose extra gas. Bad spark plug can to. If your talking about stalling, you may have a clogged fuel filter or bad injectors. What exactly is going on?

there is 2 injectors on your truck and one is the start injector and its job is to inject a blast of fuel into the intake when the key is turned on. that injector is either faulty, clogged, or not getting any power.

Depends, injectors can be cleaned for far less than replaced. I had the same thing happen in my Dodge truck all 8 injectors pulled cleaned replaced. Gave me the same song and dance about tank, ended up not doing tank and just having a large (from a marine store) in-line filter installed. Have had no further problems 60,000 miles later still going strong and haven't had to replace the filter. The injector cleaning was $35.00 each plus about $10.00 each for them to remove and replace. The filter cost just under $200.00 and they charged me $150.00 to install, With everything I was out the door for around $800.00.
