My external temp. gauge is reading 1 degree when its hot outside. where is the ambient temp. sensor located and can it be changed by myself?

The external temperature sensor is usually located directly behind the grille and in front of the radiator. It should be relatively easy to find because it will be the only thing in that area with wires.

Citroen C8 2.0 HDI external temperature always wrong!

It\'s a small probe inside the passenger mirror. Look underneath for a little lump, looks like a water droplet. My C8 reads 58 degrees! Probably a similar fault. Removing the mirror is not bad, tilt to extreme to reveal metal spring clip inside. Putting back is a real pain.

On my 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, when the heater is on it does not blow out hot air and when the A/C is on it does not blow out cold air. What could the problem be? And can I fix it myself?

There is a temperature sensor in the heater that is most likely covered in fluff. this will stop the sensor from working and controlling the temperature, The external temperature sensor which is behind the grille can also cause this issue.

Do you need to replace the thermostat housing if only the sensor is bad and telling the conputor to turn on the service engine light?

How do you know the sensor is bad? Have you checked the coolant temperature using an external temperature gauge?
Best bet is to replace both the thermostat/housing and the temperature sensor, they are not that expensive, and are located in the same area of the engine.

I do not now, were is placed out tempereture indicator on my S-type Jag. Please, help me..

I'm not sure what you mean by 'out' temperature but suspect its the external temperature sensor that shows outside temp and also is part of the aircon controls. This sensor is mounted under the front spoiler RHS. and can easily be replaced (plug in) cost from main stealers = about £5-00.
hope this helps.
