SOURCE: Looking for a diagram of where the purge valve goes.

It should be located on the left side of the engine compartment when your facing the engine. It has a small hose and wires running to it and is close to the fire wall. It should have an EVAP decal to help identification.

Location of purge solenoid valve on 94 850 volvo

Purge solenoid is located on the radiator fan housing on the driver side. Has a vacuum line from the throttle assemble to the solenoid, a 2 wire connector and a line that goes down and to the pass side of the vehicle.

I have a plymouth neon and need to find out how to fix code p0443

P0443 Code is purge control valve circuit. Go to the driver side near the battery or better yet use the underhood sticker emission diagram That black cylinder is the canister,on it is the purge valve which hoses lead to the intake. make sure the hose are not torn,or leaking or disconnected if it is clear the code rerun the monitor (just drive it its 2 trip),because more likely that would be the code for P0443.Just because its a valve circuit doesnt mean its the valve circuit the ECM sent a command to purge and the MAP did not detect a purge,The ECM doesnt know if it is caused by a bad purge solenoid a disconnected line for the purge (normally closed) so it coded it if you want to fix it it is either the hose of the purge or the valve itself.

Hi Michael: here you have two diagrams...

DTC P0440 code indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of many parts, including (but not limited to) the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.
A code P0440 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • The gas cap is not installed or working properly
  • The purge solenoid has failed
  • The canister is plugged and not working properly
Additional details could find in this links Fault Codes on Cars & Trucks or other diagrams in Cars & Trucks Vacuum Diagram.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

I need a vacuum line diagram fo a 1996 Chevy Lumina, 3.1. One line that is not connected to anything, is located at the top of the engine.

Sorry I don't have the diagram, but I do have a diagram of the engine and component locations. Your vacuum system is fairly simple. You have a MAP sensor attached to the air cleaner. I have pasted a picture below. It has one electrical connector and one vacuum hose that goes to the intake manifold or the throttle body.
Behind the right headlight is your evap canister. This will have a hose or line running to the fuel tank. Then it will have another hose going to the purge valve. The purge valve should be close by and it has a connector plus another hose that goes to the intake manifold.
Then you have the PCV hose that goes from the PCV valve in the valve cover to the air cleaner or intake manifold. I think yours just has a hose from the air cleaner and the rest is internal.
There is one more vacuum hose, and that is the bog one that goes from the intake manifold (or throttle body--looks to me like there are a couple of vacuum ports on the back side of the throttle body, and there may be a "T" on one of the hoses) to the brake booster. It this one was off, the engine would not run, as the vacuum draw is large. Please let me know if you cannot figure it out from these instructions and provide a picture, if you can.

How do you change a canister purge solenoid?

This job is easy, the purge valve is located in the engine compartment, all you need to do is dissconnect two vacuum lines and an electrical connector then it slides off its bracket and off it comes, this takes about 10mins to replace, lets see if i can give you a picture of the valve and a diagram off its location.here are pictures, the valve is on the top rear area of the engine. hope this is helpful, good day.johnjohn2_134.jpgjohnjohn2_155.gif

Starts up but will not stay idling, bad gas smell comes out of it.

Hello! The gas vapor system, which is under pressure, must be purged...Without the ability to purge fuel will not flow...This is the reason the engine will not idle...Because you smell gas vapors is an indication the vapor canis ter purge valve is either defective or has an open/broken vacuum line...Follow the vacuum diagram under the hood and trace all lines..."tired" vacuum lines will **** closed, replace any cracked, broken or soft lines...If this does not solve the problem replace the purge valve...See picture below...guru...saailer...
