Wipers are going even though they are not turned on

There is a parking circuit in the motor which brings the wipers back to the down "parked" position even if you have turned off the wipers. Most likely your problem lies with that circuit, not replaceable nor repairable as it is inside the wiper motor. You have to replace the whole wiper motor. However there could also be a fault in the wiper switch. The cost to replace either item, especially if you are wrong with the first guess, justifies taking it to a dealer and have them troubleshoot the problem. A good tech with a volt/ohmmeter can tell you which is bad without total disassembly.

Rear windshield wiper does not move even though I can hear motor working

Check the attaching nut for the wiper blade. They will come loose over time. Pop up the cover on the wiper ,there is a 13mm nut try tightening it. Make sure the wiper arm and motor are in the park position before tightening.Good luck.

BMW X5- 2005 overheats; the washers for the wipers not working

If you are adding coolant and are not seeing a leak, your leak may be internal to the engine (not good). ie. Blown head gasket or cracked head. Check your oil for signs of water, ie milky looking oil on dipstick or rising oil level even though you didn't add oil. Also do a pressure check of coolant system. If it dosn't hold pressure you have a leak someware. Get it fixed ASAP or else say good by to your engine. Also have your water pump and cooling fans ckecked as well. Don't run the AC until its fixed, it just makes the cooling system work harder. As far as the washers, the front and rear use the same container, have the pump checked as well as fuse for the pump and wipers.

remove your cowl panel right at the back of the hood and look at the linkage that attaches to the motor. It has probably come of or broken. Hope this solves your problem Merry Christmas! and God Bless!
