To clear the memory on the computer just disconnect the positive cable on your battery for about five minutes. This will clear up any trouble codes for the moment. Go to Autozone and they will hook up the scanner to your car for free and tell you exactly what is wrong with your vehicle. Good luck!

"Wrench" light is also call the "Check Engine Light" or the "Service Engine Soon Light".

They all mean the same thing. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected and error. It should store that eror code in its memory.

Diesel. Reduce power lite turned on. Shut off engine and started back up - lite is off. Can it be driven?

Jerry, Drive to a good shop. So many things can cause reduced power light unfortunately. The first step would be to get the truck hooked up to a scanner/computer and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. One thing that you could try is to drain the water from the water separator that is mounted on the frame under drivers front door. If the PCM picks up on water, power is reduced until water is removed/drained. It could be an exhaust sensor that is reading faulty. Unfortunately from here its impossible to tell you exactly what the fault is because there are just so many engine sensor inputs that could cause your problem. Check the attached links, forums, instruction and guides, Good luck

2005 ford super duty truck 5.4 moter makes a ticking noise in top right of motor it only does it wile idleing and after motor is hot I was told it might be a cam phazor I don't know help thanks

Depends on the miles of the engine also, could be a cam phaser or it could be carbon chunks caught in the lifter, could be a weak lifter spring. Valve cover will have to come off to find out.

Rough idle problem

could be a vacuum leak at a hose or gasket. with the engine running spray a little carb spray at the intake manifold area. if the idle picks up you are close to the vacuum leak. dont spray on the exhaust manifold area, be careful

I have a f-250 super duty 2005 and have the engine check light on. On start up, runs rough, smokes then is ok. Any ideas ? Jim

Hello, Best thing is to have a free scan at Autozone, Advance, or Oreillys autoparts. You need to have the Code erased after the repair anyway. If this is a diesel engine, the glowplugs or Timerbox is probably the problem. For a Gas engine, the Cold start sequence may be inoperative. The Cold start sequence would increase the idle, burn off the extra fuel, and eliminate the rough idle.

The quickest and most accurate solution is to get a scan.

2000 f250 supercab. Engine light comes on. When you connect to a computer checks ok.

Hi, if your car engine light comes on and after connecting it to the computer it looks o.k, then you should try reseting the engine light by remove the positive battery cable from the battery post and leave it off for about five minutes. Then, reattach the battery cable to the battery. You can do this with a basic 1/2-inch or 9/16-inch wrench. Removing the battery cable will reset the "Check engine" light as long as there is nothing serious wrong with the engine.

I have 2005 f-250 super duty and the display reads "check fuel cap" I hit clear and now it reads "check engine"

the loose fuel cap can cause what the motor calls an emmisions leak, which will cause the check engine light to appear, if you have checked the cap and it is tight and the problem with the lights persist, there could be a vacume leak on the motor causing the same issue, some vehicals see the small vacume leak and just assume it is their fuel cap.

My husband cleaned the throttle body on our F-150 Triron and he un hooked the battery to reset the engine light ,when he did that the wrench light came on and said it was in limp-home mode operation what...

Oops. This means you will not be able to drive very fast. The failsafe will kill several of the cylinders and use them to help cool the engine. It is designed to help get you going when the engine loses coolant.

If the engine light was on before, it was diagnosing a problem. If the engine light came on after something was sprayed into the throttle body, it has reacted with some of the sensors or Oxygen monitors.

Best you can do is get to an Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan and let them clear the computer for you.

Your ford has power assisted breaks this power is delivered from the motor, at the point when the accelerator is inactive. There for it sounds like your idle speed setting is too low, if you have a rev counter then it should be reading around 1000 revs at idle, if not the idle needs increasing. Hope this helps
