Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

Engine studdering engine has a hard time starting, studders when pulling out - tach fluctuates from 1/2 to 1 1/2 when stopped at a red light or in park or nuetral(when this happens, the engine looks like its gonna jump right off the frame) . Backfires when going downhill. This has happened before and it was bad coilpacks. Could anyone tell me how many there are and how hard it is to change them and also do you think that sounds like the right solution to the problem.

I hate to say i had to replace the intake gasket. but do a little tune up first change fuel filter plugs wire spark plugs besure to get the spark plugs your engine call for.some call for platinum. the 98 on up 2000s model call for platinum.have some one check your fuel pressure . it should be 41 to 47 psi. if you know somebody with a code scanner . tell them to scan your car make sure your torque converter on tranny not staying locked up. check under hood for vacuum leaks. good luck

What causes my 1993 Nissan altima to studder or idle rough at red light or stopped

-It could be miss fire, bad coil, air leak, injector or spark plug and plug wire. It's hard to tell at this moment.
-First able you needed to check all above to determine which part is bad.

Good luck

Hello. It seems either your water temperature sender is malfunctioning or your ignition module is overheating.

Truck stalls after driving in rain when truck comes to a stop. either at sign, lights or during stop and go traffic

If this is only stalling in the rain, you are pulling moisture in the ignition system, or fuel system. When stalling if it cut straigt off ( no studdering first) its usually in the electrical system. If it studders first prior to stalling, Its usually in the suel system. In the Night time hours (after dark) open your hood and look for electrical arching. This will give you a map to followto seal up tour electrical issue if it exests. If it is in the fuel system, the first thing I always chack.replace is the fuel cap as the gaskets deteriorate over time and release pressure causing a drop in fuel pressure in the system. Good luck

possible but sounds like you have a misfire occurring is your check engine light on if so this will give you a code determining which cylinder it is occurring on.i would start out with new plugs and wires especially if you know they have not been done lately

95 chev k1500 studders while at low rpms

I would take the throttle body off and look at the fuel pressure regulator spring they have a bad habit of breaking or getting weak and getting alot of sludge on the diaphram you can buy a regulator kit aftermarket if you need one.

Santa fe studdering and won't accelerate right? RPM's jump and then steady with continuing studdering?

Engine performance problem causes are many. Try this first.
1. Disconnect the battery cables (both of them)
2. Touch/connect the postive and negative battery cables together for 30 seconds.
3. Reconnect the cables to the battery.
4. Drive vehicle to see if this solved the problem. Let me know what happens.
