Not 100% but more than likely part of the safety/neutral switch, in transmission. Threaded in switch. Check autozone, or Pep Boys, for price, and they should be able to confirm.

Screwed into the transmission, on top or on one side. Should have only one or two wires at most running to it. Look for broken wire, bad ground at your lamps. If you complete circuit at plug-in to switch, or ground the one wire, lights should come on if switch is at fault. The switch provides a ground when tranny is in reverse. Try get lights on before hastily condemning switch.

Only right side reverse light does not work.

There is not any left or right reverse Light switch. It is only one switch for reversing light and it is fitted on the Transmission. If you do have the one working and the other not, first check the bulb if is ok,if not change it. If the bulbs are ok, check for any broken wiring.

Make sure you look really close at the bulbs. There can be side markers, license bulbs, reverse lights, and third brake lights out

Back up lights and license plate light doesn't work.

Reverse lights are activated by a small switch on the transmission. Usually located on the passenger side of the vehicle with a small rubber cap over the switch, Your plate light bulbs are probably in need of replacement, and have nothing to do with the reverse lights.

HOW TO SYNCHRONIZE BACKUP LIGHTS WITH REVERSE GEAR ON 1996 JEEP C

The neutral safety switch can be adjusted to make this work. (loosen it and turn , then lock it down. This changes neutral start position as well so make sure both work when you're finished! Switch is on right side of trans. Switch is about $220 so don't break it!

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Reverse Lights do not work bulbs are fin

If this is an Auto trans, on the left side of the tranny just above the tranny pan is a switch. This is the reverse light switch, replace it.
The switch screws into the side and has a 3 wire connector to it.

REVERSE LIGHTS

Look under the truck at the transmission..there is a reverse light switch mounted to the transmission that turns the lights on and off - look to see if the wires are still connected, if so, the switch itself may have gone bad -you should be able to get one at any parts shop or jeep dealer
