Usually it's because you have a blown fuse to the ALDL connector. Check the fuses. It should be the same fuse for the lighter.

I can look up the power and ground feeds for the ALDL so you can test. I'll post that tomorrow. If you have good power and ground and the data line is good, the computer must be bad, assuming the scanner isn't broken. You tried the scanner on another car?

How to reset computer in a mitsubish outlander 2006 and the cost

This question is ambiguous. What computer are you talking about? If you are talking about the ECM then there is nothing you can reset except the check engine light. That process is done with a tool called an OBD reader that plugs into the diagnostic port and reads the computer and allows you to reset the light. If this is something serious you should know that computers in automobiles rarely fail. When they do, they are replaced and they are not cheap. A dealer has some other options to use but they are not cheap.

2006 explorer dies did crank and crank replaced fuel pump and starter now when starting instrument pannel goes blank

The first thing to do would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Not at auto zone , thier diagnostic system can not pull codes from BCM - body control module or from the instrument cluster . Are you familiar with C.A.N . - controller area network ? All the control modules on your vehicle talk to one another on a serial data bus or network . Your vehicle has a number of these modules , PCM - engine computer , SJB - smart junction box , air bags , ABS , An someothers . All the instrument gauges and the lighting happen over this data bus .
How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN Your best bet mite be to take it to the dealer or some other qualified repair shop .

On a 2001 Jaguar S-Type What does it mean when you see air bag light on while driving

It means that the air bag diagnostic module has registered a problem in the system...either a bad impact sensor, bad air bag module, bad clock spring, bad pre tentioner....something in the system is not as it should be. You need to have the car hooked up to a diagnostic computer that can talk to the air bag processor to find out what the problem is.

1999 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 why engine controller messages not received ?

All the computers in the car talk on a CAN Bus. One of the computers might be interfering with the others.
It happened to me, I had a bad ground. I grounded the computer directly to the battery and magically everything worked. I then had to go through the wiring to figure out which ground. In my case the one under the center console was loose.

There is a connector under the dash that is more like a plug (it might look like a unused diagnostic port), if you pull the cap off, you will separate all the computers. With an oscilliscope or really good volt meter you can probe which of those pins is putting out noise. The connector is the CAN bus connector.

If you have a good diagnostic tool, one that can talk to the other computers, not just pull codes from the engine computer, you can, with a wiring diagram, add one at a time until you find the culprit.

Where is the computer hookup for diagnostic testing

I'm assuming that you are talking about the OBD Diagnostic Link Connector; this is located front seating area, driver side, under dash, mounted on driver side of steering column.

Hope this helped (remember comment and rated this).

I have a P0702 transmision trouble

Transmission Control System Electrical=P0702 code,
Have you talked to a jeep dealer yet,
Ask if there are any TSB's on this problem.
Technical Service Bulletins from Jeep when they find and solve different complaints.
What ever is doing this is a soft code,A soft code is one that will clear it's self with the cycle of the key to off then on and code goes away,But have them check history codes to see if it is sounds like it is going into limp mode, this feature is when the computer sees a transmission falt it wont up shift,so you don't harm the tranny, but will let you limp to a shop to get repaired.have you ever noticed the speedometer going to 0 then this happens?
that would be the output sensor.

Poor power

connect to a diagnostic computer and see what codes it gives you! it might be related to the "throttle control" or TPS which governs the mixture of gas/air talks to the car computer which controls all these things in the 2003 Envoy. could be the car computer as well....
