Do the interior cab light come on? can you turn the headlights on? Could be a faulty ignition switch, but really need more info.

No the cab light does not come on and I cannot turn my headlights on. I disconnected the battery for a while, the cab light came on, when I tried to start, the cab light went out again

It sounds like you have a bad connection. Remove both battery cables and make sure the terminals are all clean. They make a battery brush that you can pick up at your local parts store that is very inexpensive. clean the battery and the ends of the cable s very good and then re-attach them making sure they are both tight, make sure you can not wiggle them. Then see how you go.

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado. Occasionally when I turn the key to start it nothing happens. I have power, all lights come on. There are no noises or anything. If I use the remote starter, it works.

sounds like the ignition control switch has gone bad. all light will come one but if you turn to start and nothing happen but works with remote starter then the first thing to get checked is the ignition control switch.

Trailer wiring

Have you checked the fuse box under the hood? There are seperate fuses for the truck lights and the trailer lights. If the fuses look good use a 12 volt test light to check for power on the turn signal pins when the brake is pushed. The brake lights and turn signals use the same wires to work. Power here would indicate the wiring and fuses on the truck is all good, meaning the trouble is on the trailer. Check the bulbs to be sure they are the correct ones, they should be dual element bulbs. Make sure you have a good ground on the trailer, usually the white wire in the 4 way plug is grounded to the trailer frame, do not depend on the trailer ball to be the ground, this is asking for trouble.
