the cd changer is malfunctioning, the factory cd changers usually don't last that long because of the heavy use and many mechanical puts

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A VERY EARLY MODEL CD CHANGER ALPINE UNIT THE S TYPE
USED A AUDIOVOX CD CHANGER HOPE THIS IS USEFUL

Hi, Joe here to help. The cd changer is at fault. You need to replace the changer. The system is on a fiber optic loop which cuts out the sound if can not complete that loop.
