I can also see what appears to be oil on one of the hoses down there. its tight so cant say for sure... but it looks like the high pressure line coming out of the compressor. Bad news is that it looks like I would need to remove the front of the car to get anywhere near this thing with tools

I checked the temp with a infrared thermometer gun. Its 90 outside. Pavement is 115. The ac will blow as cold as 80 on full blast recirculate. When i keep the air running but press the snowflake button (cooling off) the temperature shoots up to over 100. So I do have SOME cooling.

If you have a leak, it is not recommended to repair yourself. Theres lots of special tools and knowledge needed to do the job right the first time. You may be able to do it, but its probably going to be cheaper in long run to let a pro handle. Contact local auto repair shop for estimate for repair. Even Walmart may be able to do this repair.

I posted this question nine months ago. I bought an ac manifold Guage set at Harbor freight and injected up die tracer. Using a up flashlight and special goggles I found a leak where and ac pipe enters the radiator. But it was too tight to get tools in they're so I took to the dealer. The car wasnt under warranty but they fixed for free. GO customer care paid.

SOURCE: Ac compressor won't kick on

Just had the same issue and posted. Just found the solution is the control module in the dash. Went to the junk yard since new is expensive on these units. Plugged new unit in, was able to charge a/c now blows cold as ice.

Chevy traverse 2010 ac is blowing hot air

try the ac fixes(freon recharge) found at your local autoparts store if that works for a little while you have a leak in the ac system if it makes no change it is most likely the ac compressor or the ac pulley is not engaging

AC NOT WORKING PROPERLY

You've got some of the picture, but not all of it.
You need to know what the high and low side readings are, so yes you do need the gauge set. If the system is charged, and the low side is not dropping below 25psi, I would guess the low side pressure switch is faulty. But if the low side is dropping below 20psi when the compressor stops, the system may be low on freon. Which means you have a leak somewhere.
The hissing noise is freon flowing thru the system which could also indicate a low charge.

GMC Acadia AC not working properly

Not sure if I'm too late to answer this one, but you're describing a low refrigerant condition. The hissing noise and constant cycling of the compressor clutch are indicators of that. You should recover the system, record how much refrigerant was recovered, evacuate the system (with a vacuum pump), add A/C dye, and recharge the system to capacity. Common leak areas on these vehicles include the A/C condenser (located in front of the radiator), and the evaporator (located inside the dash, and requires complete removal of the interior dash to replace it). If you can't find a visible leak after running the recharged system with dye for several weeks and it starts to blow warm again, you will need to use an R-134a leak detector to "sniff" areas of the system for a refrigerant leak.

Hello, Are the cooling fan(s) coming on with the truck in park and the engine at idle? If the cooling fan(s) are not working A/C will not cool with truck setting still.

The car has been sitting for almost a year. I started it today to drive out of necessity. The A/C clutch does not engage. How do i jumper across the pressure switch to add freon? Thanks, Ken

dont!!! an you start to add freon, itll start to cycle the compresor clutch until within safe operating pressure and then it will hold clutch in constant. charge liquid(with can upside down). if wont take freon in this manner than your more than low on charge. running low on charge will quickly destroy pump, especiallt those old harrisons. the refrigerant also cools the compressor. good luck and wear gloves-

You probably have leaked out your freon after so much time. Try adding some more Freon if it doesnt stay charged you may have bigger issues.

Air cond.

When you start putting the freon in the compressor should kick on and then start pulling it in. Yes it will cycle, as long as all the lights aren't flashing on the temp control.
