Difference between an Air Filter and Air Conditioning filter

I have been told to replace the Air Filter of my Land Cruiser Prado, a year 2003 120-series 4.0L Petrol model, and when I consult the owner's manual, it only talks about changing the Air Conditioning Filter on the glove box.

I always thought the air filter is under the bonnet that is near the engine where the air inlet is. So is there any difference between an Air Filter and Air Conditioning Filter? When I am told to replace the air filter, does that mean changing the Air Conditioning Filter as advised in the owner's manual?

Thanks for your help

The air conditioning filter that your manual speaks of is known as a ''cabin filter'', it is much differant then your engine air filter. It filters the incoming air into your vehicles interior. So if someone has told you to replace your ''air filter'' they are more then likely speaking of your ''engine'' air fitler. You should check your engine air filter every oil change. If it shows signs of dirt, then replace it. Hope this helps =)

I want to change the air conditioning filter of my Toyota Landcruiser (Prado), from 2006. I understand the air filter is accessed from the glove compartment. The glove compartment needs to be dismounted or...

Just squeeze the glove box inside up the top where the stoppers touch dash, the box will flip right down remove the cover behind and fit your new filter.

Air conditioning filter installation

Requires technical expertise and special equipment. 2500 dollar fine for releasing freon intothe atmosphere. So, Let a shop do it. The only filter is in the system. There is no filter for the interior air.

Lack of fuel and/or air is getting to your engine. check fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, air filter, and throttle body.
