Re: finding the oil filter
I'm guessing you have a 2.2 engine. o.k. when you open the hood look down between the engine and radiator. You will see a manifold. At the driver side of the manifold (your right) just next to and slightly lower than the manifold you will see what looks like a BIG black plastic nut sitting on top of a black plastic canister. The nut is 1 1/4". A short socket and a 6" extension with a ratchet works well. A 1 1/4" wrench will be too long to get a good bite of the nut without damaging it.(remember it's plastic). Once you get the thing loose unscrew it by hand. When off hold the lid in one hand and grasp the dirty oil filter with the other and pull filter straight off. Remove "O" ring from around lid and install new one that came with new filter. Install new filter in lid pressing firmly in place.(it should "snap" in and not fall off when turned over.) Oil the 'O" ring lightly and screw lid on by hand until snug. Tighten with socket until firmly tight. Hope this is helpful.

I just did the oil change on my 2005 545i...the correct position of the oil filter is underneath the car. Climb under the car and at about where the engine meets the tranny is a small plastic "window" that you can open by unscrewing three screws. There you will find the drain plug for the engine oil as well as the engine oil filter assebly.
the oil capacity would be as follows : 2007 gmc sierra 1500 series with : 4.3 L with oil filter = 4.5 quarts 4.8 L with oil filter = 6.0 quarts 5.3 L with oil filter = 6.0 quarts 6.0 L with oil filter = 6.0 quarts 6.6 L with oil filter = 10.0 quarts cheers'
