Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

My 2001 chevy silverado blows 10 amp ac fuse under hood every time I engage ac. It's a 2500hd 4x4 6.0. I had two ac shops look at it without any luck. It has a good high & low pressure switch. No blockage internally, has been cleaned prior to new freon. 1.8 pounds is currently in it. The last shop told me it was an electrical problem in the harness. I replaced the ac pump twice because the first pump was determined it had a short in the coil. The second pump checks out good but has same overall problem.

SOURCE: My ac is not blowing

If you can turn the compresser with your hand freely ? then you can just replace the clutch...if not, the whole compressor needs to be replaced..

SOURCE: 96 mustang gt ac blows fuse after 5 minutes.

it sounds to me like a AC resistor issue i have a beemer that did that same thing to me and it turn out that it was my ac resistor it would burn out my 30 amp ac fuse in 2 to 3 minutes usually when the resistors in a circuit break they tend to burn out the fuses as a warning. easy way to find out is by putting in a new fuse and after a minute go touch the negative lead on you battery if the cable is really hot then there's a short in the circuit or in the case of your ac it would be a broken resistor.
there simple to get and simple to replace.

Try the 40 amp blower fuse under the hood or the 30 amp under the dash. The check the blower resistor motor under the dash on the passenger side. Check the connector plug to see if they are damaged.

My 1988 chevy silverado blows the heater/ac fuse when engaging 4w

There is an electric actuator on the front axle that engages 4WD. This part commonly fails resulting in no 4WD. Unhook the electrical connector to this part and see if heater still blows fuses. If It does not blow the fuse, the problem is in the actuator. If it still blows the fuse then it could be in the wiring. Buy a repair manual and trace the wiring schematics.

Keeps blowing the prime fuse under hood, gas gage won't read, heated seats won't come on,after truck starts, blows that fuse each time.Problem just started.

this problem is most likely caused by a fuel pump with high amp. draw on start up.use a amp meter.then replace fuel pump.
