Brake pedal goes straight 2 th floor!

I have a 99 toyota corolla g6r!when i push th brakes th pedal goes sraight 2 th floor sometimes and i have bleed th hole system 3 times and it still isnt right?wat could this be?

You are definitely getting air into the system from somewhere. Look for wetness at all 4 wheels, around brake pipes and hoses and at the back of the master cylinder where it is bolted to the brake booster. You find where the fluid is getting out you find where the air is getting in.

it should have disk brakes all round but shoes for the hand brake on the rear. unless you have the"poverty pack" it may just have shoes on the rear.....

i try to help you, firts refill brake fluid container,open purge valve in one wheel front only,wait few minutes when drops fluid, close this valve and open other wheel, same procedure, finally repeat this in each 4 wheels

most likely your master cylinder is acting up try to press hard on your break for a period of time and see if the pedal will sink/replace master

How do I fix the brakes in my 99 Toyota Corolla? I have no brakes and the pedal goes right to the floor.


have you adjusted the rear brakes correctly ( drum brakes)
if not drums then you have air in the systems still
brake bleeding is done starting at the wheel with the longest line and ending at the shortest line
It is a 2 person operation unless you have a pressure bleeder pump attached to the reservoir
your problem is air in the system

How to fix brakes that goes to the floor after i replaced the master cylinder


You must have air in the brake lines. You will have to bleed the lines to get the air out. You will have to locate the bleed valve near each wheel. It is easier to take off the wheel so you can see everything. The brake line will have a drain screw near the place that the line goes into the brake caliper assembly. You will need a helper. Loosen the screw a bit then have your helper press the brake to the floor. Fluid and/or air will come out. While they hold it to the floor, tighten the screw so it won't such air back in when the brake peddle is released. With the brake pedal released, open the drain screw again and have the helper press the brake to the floor again. Repeat this until no more air comes out when the brake pedal is pressed. Then move to the next wheel and repeat. During the process make sure that the fluid in the master cylinder does not run out. The level will drop each time you bleed some of it from the bleed valve (or drain screw or whatever you want to call it). It helps to open the drain screw just enough to let a little fluid out. You won't waste as much that way. By time you get through with the last wheel the brake should not go to the floor anymore.

Brake pedal goes to floor after fixing leak in line and bleeding brakes


neither is bad. The proportioning valve is kicked and they can sometimes be a bear to re center. Here's the best way I've had success doing that. Before you try opening up any more bleeder screws you, 1)top off the brake fluid reservoir, 2) slowly pump the brake pedal, not all the way to the floor and without the engine running but with the key on, about 20 to 30 times. After you do that you very quickly hit the brake pedal very hard but not all the way to the floor. The repeated slow pumping of the pedal will very slowly put pressure into the line, even if it's air it will compress a little at a time and when you jab the pedal that one time at the end it will re-center the valve. Now here's the key. If the brake light is on it should shut off when that valve centers itself. That's when you must bleed the air out but whoever you have helping you tell them not to push the pedal all the way to the floor again or the valve will pop again. Open the bleeder to the caliper that had the blown line and then have them push slowly down on the pedal only half way to the floor and then stop pushing and hold position til you tighten the bleed screw. After you close the bleeder screw they can let up and do it again. If he pushes it to the floor and you hear a click that means the valve kicked again and you need to start over. Time consuming, yes but it works. I hope this makes sense. Sometimes it's hard to relay what I do to words on paper,.

My brakes feel spongy when i brake. when i pump the brakes with the car not running after 3 or 4 pumps the pedal feels firm but when i start the car the pedal goes to the floor


1.Check the brake fluid under the hood ,and if its low ,add more .
2.If its not that, look under the car to see if you have any brake fluid leaks,main areas to look is
around the wheels on the back side of the tires where the bleeding nuts are and under the motor where the brake cylider is. You may have a hole in the brake line located in those area.

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

16. Now the brakes are bleeded. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. Fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached. Put back the brake reservoir cap.
17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

sometimes it may take a while to bleed the brakes, to bleed the brakes you need two people. to bleed brakes properly: make sure car is off and brake fluid is full, have someone pump up the brake pedal until it feels hard and hold it down once it is hard(make sure when you loosen the bleed screw the person pushes the pedal to the floor), have another person loosen the bleed screw until the brake pedal is on the floor of the car. repeat as needed and check the brake fluid often when doing this

Brake pedal


You will need to bleed the brake fluid again starting at the furthest wheel cylinder working your way up to the closest to the master cylinder. This way you will remove all air from the lines. Do the master cylinder last. The ABS must be done as well before the master cylinder
