Question about 2005 Cadillac STS
If you leave the key in the "ON" position for 10-15 minutes it should re-set the security system, when the security light goes off you should be able to start the vehicle. If this is a persistent problem you will probably have to change out the exciter ring that is on the end of the ignition lock cylinder. Your local GM dealer sells a kit that comes with a new lock cylinder with exciter ring and everything, but you only need to have the exciter ring changed. This is the part that reads the chip in the key and sends the information to the computer.
