Timming chain, have it apart, and parts, need to know exactly how to set timming, alinghing gears, stroke and whatever else I should know 2.2 5 speed manual 97 chevy s-10

their should be a dot in the cam, and crank gear they just have to face eachother when you put the chain on, and when you drop the distributor in if it has one make sure the rotor points at the number one wire position

After i start the jeep and attempt to give it gas it back fires. i have replaced the timming chain and gear.i have checked the timming on the distributor and i still have a problem with the back firing.

Sounds like distributor is exactly off 180 degress. Line up top dead center on harmonic balancer. The distributor rotor should now point to #1 cylinder tower in distributor cap. If not correct that so that it is.

TOP END NOISE. HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHITCH ONES ARE BAD OF THE LIFTERS

As long as there is no grinding or squeeking it is not causing any real damage. A noisy valve lifter indicates incorrect valve clearance.(too large)
If the clearance is too small, damage may occur, but a too small clearance is not audible. Just bear in mind, unnatural noises from an engine is an indication that something is going awry and could point to a larger problem somewhere down the line. If you're not sure rather consult a reputable service centre.

My cam shaft timming gear and my crank shaft timming gear dots line up and my harmonick balancer timming mark is on 0 which way should my rooter button face towards number 1 or towards rear of engine

The rotor should be pointing close to number 1, but keep in mind that the spark is actually supposed to happen before the piston gets to tdc so the rotor will be a little bit past the number 1 terminal when the crankshaft indicates that you're at tdc.

How do you line up the timming belt with the bottom pulley 2002 nissan exterra 6 cyl.

If you purchase an OEM belt there is a dot on the crankshaft gear that lines up with an indicator on the new timing belt (the dot will be at approx. 5 o'clock and the wooddrift key will be at approx. 11 o'clock). The cam gears have indicators as well.

Orange circle with a flashing exclamation point.

this usually indicates a gearbox fault. take it to a garage and they will plug a laptop into the vehicle and tell you what exactly the fault is.

hope this helps.

My s4 light on my 1989 honda integra is flashing and car only will start when light stops flashing whitch happens when ever it likes 2

I found this one the www.hondacarforum.com
http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/28562-i-have-1989-honda-integra-can-any-one-tell-me-what-s4-gear-stick.html

You have a couple of choices on this Honda transmission... D and S modes. Consider the D as the normal Drive mode and the S for Sport mode. The difference between the two is that in "D", the transmission will shift through the gears all the way to 4th gear and at lower rpm shift points. In "S", the transmission will shift at higher rpm levels and will go no higher than 3rd gear and light S3 on the dash. Once the vehicle is in 3rd gear (S3) you can then press the S4 button and the transmission will go into 4th gear (when conditions dictate). I believe there is even an S4 indicator on the dash signifying the trans is in 4th gear

The last line looks like it is the key here though.

If the car thinks its in 4th gear when you are trying to start it, obviously it wouldn't start...you could probably hunt around and see if there is a sensor on the transmission stick that runs the "D" vs "S" mode
