How can I adjust the clutch?

there are 2 types used, depends on year.
cable (adjusts like all cable cars made, say 1/2" 12mm free play a the nut.
isuzu spec is
The clutch pedal free-play should be 0.20-0.59 in. (5-15mm).
OR (if opted)
hydraulic clutch actuator. self adjusting
if the MC fluid levels drops, it's bad, slave or mc, or both
see leak?, then that part is bad. (look for leaks)
ive answered here many times, same topic

depending which engine you have tells whether cable or hydr. (unstated engine nor country)

so i toss coin , lands on cable after all only it adjusts
see the ? below
loosen that, nut and set the free play
all repair books in print cover this. fully.
if you dont have a cable ,nows the time to say.

Haw do i adjust clutch cable on 1997 geo tracker

the book shows 2 ways
the FSM
1/2in play at pedal or 1/8 " inch at bell lever.
most of these cars the cable is long gone bad inside.
and jams, and in the end, you brake the pedal, arm, or spine or worse.
its all there, play, pedal height,
and links to real FSM pages.

Ford festiva clutch cable adjustment

There are probably Manufacturers specs for this. But you want a little free play at the top to insure the pressure plate bearing is not loaded.
An inch of play before resistance is felt should be good enough. When the clutch wears in later, you may need to adjust the cable to get the pedal higher off the floorboard.

Gears grind when shifting. want to know how to adjust the clutch

Some clutches are not adjustable, depends if it is hydraulicly operated or by cable.
the adjustment is usually down by the bell housing where the clutch lever is. It will have a cable attached to it with an adjustment or a little hydraulic cylinder, with or without an adjustment. Just adjust until the pedal has about one half to one inch of free play.

The clutch pedal on Suzuki vitara two litre V6 1998 goes to about inch of floor before activation. Clutch does not slip just too much pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust it? ...

prev.gif next.gif Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced. The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment. CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation. The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm). Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion 7924hg30.gif
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
  3. Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.
