The fob can get dirty inside reducing it's function. You can clean it inside with electrical contact cleaner. Your dealers parts department can test it, usualy for free. Good Luck

I don't remember the right way to do it but the remote can be reset by clicking 1 , 2 or 3 times and holding in for 10 or more seconds. Call a GM service at your local GM dealer and they should be able to walk you through it.

FWIW,
I've had a similar problem, but ONLY using the remote to "Unlock" the doors (that's the only button I use on the remote). I found the special coating on the "Unlock" button that makes contact with the circuit board was wearing off. I got another fob from a friend, it worked for about a year and then the same problem. The semi-conductive coating was worn off as well.
I played around and was able to open the doors by touching the circuit board itself with my finger.
If that describes your problem search the web for replacement rubber buttons, it takes less than a minute to swap-out, they range from $700 to $10 plus shipping.
Also your fob shouldn't have needed re-programming, the dealers are making a fortune with this re-program ****.
For the technical types;
The coating is a semi-conductive coating. The resistance of a "good" pad was hard to measure. I put resistors across the circuit board, I started @ 10k, it worked, then 100k, 100k didn't work, 82k worked fine. I just added a small micro-switch and no problems since.
Good Luck
