Question about 1985 Ford F 250
My 1985 F-250 6.9 L. Diesel Super-Cab Fuel Tank Selector Switch isnt switching to other tank. with both tanks "FULL." I ran it on "REAR" tank till it was low on the gauge. I switched the dash switch to "FRONT" tank. No change on the gauge. I tapped on both tanks to check for fuel. For some reason the "FRONT TANK" was EMPTY! But, the "REAR-TANK' has plenty of fuel?
I have checked the fuse, The gauge is working and still reads an 1/8 of a tank when the Ignition is turned "ON." It also drops to "empty" when the Ignition is "OFF." Can somebody tell me what is going on?
The Ford trucks were recalled for the tank switch replacement. Somehow the switches would pump fuel from one tank to the other. This would cause the one tank to overflow and or result in a fire from hot exhaust temps coming into contact with the fuel. Check the dash tank switch. It is probably bad.
