SOURCE: for what sensor is the code po340 on a dodge neon

Hi,
This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM. Don't just replace the CPS (camshaft position sensor) and think that will definitely fix it.

With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

  • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
  • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
  • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
  • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
  • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
  • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
  • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required
Thanks.

Get code po340 cmp replaced it 3 times car runs 15 min sputters stall wait till next morning same thing code comes up again

any electrical noise in the system may trip the p0340. check plug wires for arcing. the most likely culprit is the alternator. unplug the alternator, and i bet the code can be cleared. had this happen to me once.

Kio Rio 04 model

need to run diagnostic codes, this will tell what the problem is, generally it will turn out to be a bad wheel sensor, and the diagnostics will point you to the right one. Once you not what code your getting check connectors at each when and then clear codes. If the same code is recorded again replace the wheel sensor indicated by diagnostics.
