They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

hey well i have similar problem on my 2000 awd, it seems to get stuck on 4 all the time. when i turn it grinds and thumps like heck. anybody knows how to go about this prob?

The fuel pump relay is integral to the Central Junction Box ( CJB ) and is not serviceable
Applies to, but not limited to the following models:
Expedition / Navigator -- 2003 - 2006
Excursion -- 2002 - 2005
F-Super Duty 250-550 -- 2002 - 2007

SOURCE: where is the AC compressor relay on 1999 Ford
There's a A/c clutch relay if that's the one your looking for. that relay is located in the power distribution box located in the engine compartment (see picture below). The relay that I am talking about will be in the number 204 position (see picture of layout below). This should be in your owners manual if you have one.
