SOURCE: Drive shaft for 1988 Ford Ranger extended cab

I have a '88 Ranger XLT extra cab 4X4 w/auto tranny (2.9L V6) that had a 2-piece driveshaft on it. After adding a 4" suspension lift, there was a strong vibration whenever I took off from a dead stop. I replaced the drive shaft with a beefed up 1 piece custom built by a shop specializing in drive shafts. The truck no longer had any vibration, and it hooks up immediately on exceleration. I found the shop on Ebay advertising drive shafts. All I had to do was measure the length from the transfer case/Tranny to the rear differential. The length of the new drive shaft allowed me to adjust almost 3/4" so all I had to do was get it close. I also took close up pictures so the shop could match up the correct flange on both ends of the driveshaft. The last thing I had to do was flip the crossmember brace so it wouldn't interfere with the new drive shaft.

SOURCE: procedures for removing drive shaft bmw x5

no the spindle stays on the vehicle,this process is not that difficult.start by removing the wheels and 38mm nut at the end of each shaft,then reomve the bolt holding on the front lower control arm from the front sub frame,pressout the shaft through the wheel bearing,now that the end of the shaft is out use a pry bar to pop out the shaft in the oil pan,pull them out and replace, Also you must be aware that removeing the 38mm nut is difficult without a impact gun and it is also a 12 point nut as well you must force out the ends of the drive shaft with a special puller of a air chistle with a point as you are not able to push it through by hand good luck

Where is the cam shaft senser on a ford ranger 2.5 td 2002

Ford did not put a 2.5 in a Ranger, maybe a 2.3 ?
2.3 = 2007-01-27_154722_2.gif
3.0 - The CMP sensor& synchronizer/shaft are located behind the intake manifold (i.e., back near the firewall on a Ranger) on the top of the cylinder block. If you just need to replace the sensor, it is a simple job of unplugging the electrical connector and removing the screws holding the sensor in place. Here is a sketch of the sensor to give you an idea what to look for:

To remove a front axle shaft 94 ford ranger remove rotor, and hub. anything else?

you shouldn't have to remove anything else, unless it is in your way, one end of the shaft should just come out of the spindle, after you beat it with a hammer...lol, but seriously, and then the other side you need a special tool it is a 2 prong fork, to pry between the tranny and the shaft, and that should get it out.
