Bald tires i just got new rear tires about two weeks and they are already almost bald. i was in an accident a few months back where i damaged the back of my car. i was wondering if that had anything to do with it and what could be the reason for going through tires so quick?

You definitely have a wheel alignment problem. Body shops rarely check this unless it is obvious to YOUR eye. Take it to a really good tire shop where they have a four wheel alignment machine. Ask them if you can have a print-out of the end results. You don't need to have a clue what the print-out says, this just insures that they have good modern equipment and they are willing to let you check out the results.
Don't bother with the body shop, I can almost promise you they won't have a wheel alignment machine. Maybe you can chase down your insurer or the body shop for new tires. especially with a before and after print-out.

Yup...your rear alignment is very out of specs that you are scrubbing the tires like erasers across the blacktop.  Insurance should have checked this after the rear end repair.

Front end Alignment , back shock absorbers faulty, back leaf spring fault, Front shock absorbers or front ball joint failure.
Ask tire retailer their opinion on possible cause.

You probably need to have your tires aligned, do you rotate them at all every 6 months or so?

Rear Tires: Balding

if it has independent rear suspension then have the suspension rubbers checked and replace if necessary. Next for all wheel alignments it is essential that the rear end is aligned first to stop this tyre wear before the front wheels are aligned . IF you have leaf springs at the rear check for axle alignment and broken centre bolts or worn rubbers at the centre bolt mounts.

Sounds like this shop is trying to take advantage of you because you're a female and unlikely to be knowledgeable about cars. If you have a male relative. friend, significant other, co-worker, etc. , ask him to take your car to this shop and ask the service advisor about the condition of the tires. I'd bet a week's pay that he gets a different story (of course, I'm now retired so I don't get paid weekly LOL). It's a cruel and all to common practice. If you can't enlist any help, take your car to a different shop and have them check it out. I think you're being swindled..

This 2000 ford focus had 2 rear bald tires when i first purchased it. When it rained, the rear end fish tailed violently. When I got new tires in the back, the fish tailing in the rain ceased. But the...

more than likely the thrust angle is off
basicly what this means instead of rear tires pointing straight forward it pointing slighly to the left or right
how this got off can be numours a few possiablys are

was in acdient and never fixed right

some part bent in rear this can happen by being towed wrong , jacking in wrong place ,hititing something in road

or could just have worn out parts in rear

your best bet is to take it to a alignment shop and have it checked out
most alignment shops will check it over for free tell you what wrong and how much it cost to fix
then you have option of taking somewhere else , fixing it yourself , or having them do it after the problem is fixed tho you will need to take it back to alignment shop to have it aligned

No it doesn't, but something happened to your rear end. It must have too much weight in the trunk, or the bolts have come loose and let the rear end slip down, I know they can be brought back up, there are shims that slide in and out to get it aligned, but usually, they stay put because of the weight difference, I would take it to a different garage and have them look at it and make sure nobody messed with it. Then get it shimmed back up. A lot of cars come off the line like that, VW's, BMW's, How would like to pay $30,000 for a car with the rear wheels leaning in at the top? I wouldn't. Check it out, Hope this helps.

Strange tire wear on drivers side rear

If the rear tire is as you say Messed up then the rear suspension bushes must be shot allowing the titre to scrub at an angle to the cars line of travel ]

If it is bad enough it will cause the car to crab

Jack the car up and see if there is play on the suspension leg by pulling it towards you or pushing it away

MAKE SURE THE CAR IS ON AXLE STANDS BEFORE YOU DO THIS
