SOURCE: my locked door won't open
I have a 2005 Xterra and the same thing started happening to me on an intermitent basis. The dealership eventually replaced the guts of the door release equipment under warrenty but that was after 3 trips to the dealership.
Now my rear hatch won't open. My theory is that after an total repaint (hail) in the summer of 2006 the body shop made something out of wack with these door mechanisms.

SOURCE: door locks
Regarding the rear door child locks: There is a small lever on the latch side of the door, you can only see it with the door open. Move it to the other position.
Regarding the front door locks: You either have a bad door lock switch, or the power lock solenoids are beginning to fail. To check this, you will need to pull the door panels off, & measure the actual voltage at the solenoids whilst manipulating the lock switch. If you have 12 + VDC, I would suggest replacing the door lock solenoids. Not hard to change, but it IS time consuming. Best left to a dealer. Expect to pay 1 hour per side to change each solenoid.

SOURCE: cant open back doors
yea its a bit of a pain but take a wire hanger and make the hook part straight then bend it about half an ince from the tip then from the inside slide it in the crack you can open driver side door and compare to find where to stick it then just get behind the child safty and unlock and open.

as leegallacher said its more than likely the interior door cable stretched or ends worn.
