Replace heater core

In order to replace the heater core the dash must be removed from the car, in order to pull this off you MUST have access to factory service manuals, trust me on this. You can pay to access the manuals at a reasonable price from this commercial site alldatadiy.com

Heater blows cold air even when engine temp is normal. Where is the thermostat and how difficult would it be for someone with moderate mechanical skills to R&R?

your thermostat will have no bearing on your heater blowing cold air. My s type is kind of funny with its heating/cooling at times too as are several other models I've observed. Since your blower motor is working and blowing out air (cold or not) you may need to have your heater core replaced (part is around 140 excl labor if you have it installed) might be able to get you a diagram of my jtis software if you're a do it yourselfer. It takes a skilled mechanic several hours to remove the dash to r/r core. Very tedious and if you're not familiar with it I'd recommend having a free weekend to do so. I would pay to have mine replaced to give you a straight answer in this matter.

Change a heater core in 2002 Ram, big job?

With reasonable skills it is a job you can tackle, but requires a lot of patience. There may be several steps you don't see the need for, but follow them - it is better than finding out why a few steps later. Give yourself plenty of time.

I am changing the heater core in a 97 cougar XR7 and need to know what the flat rate charge will be.

Hello heidicrebs: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. The time allowance for changing the heater core is 7.5 hrs. labor and 1.4 hrs. to evacuate and recharge the air conditioning. As for the dollar cost you will need to find out what the prevailing labor rate is at the shops in your area are. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Wipers do not work and exhaust is loud and I may need a heater core how do i replace these myself

Wipers is an easy fix. Go buy a set of the correct wiper blades and read the instructions. As to the loud exhaust I suggest you have this repaired by a trusted muffler shop. About as cheap to pay someone as to DIY, and besides you do not have the tools for this job. Replacing a heater core is never easy. replacing the core is simple, but getting to the core is never simple. You just have to remove enough of the dash to be able to access the core located on the passenger side. Take digital photos as you go along as this may help you with reassembly. Go slow, be careful and only remove what is necessary. If you pay someone to do this be prepared for a very expensive repair. Parts are cheap but labor costs are high on this repair.

Antifreeze/coolant leaking from under passenger side dash

If it's your heater core, unless you're a mechanic you probably should get professional help. The heater core is located on the firewall and many parts need to be replaced to get to it. Do you see water on the floor inside the vehicle, Many times a heater core will leak inside.

Need to replace heater core I need to replace my heater core and want to know the best way to do it

You will have to remove the entire dash assembly and then remove the air conditioning/heater case and this will enable you to have access replace the heater core, this is a really tough job did it 3 or 4 times while working at a Ford dealer, took 10 hours and I had allot of experience, unless you have allot of tech savvy I would pay someone to do it, I would, and I am a Professional mechanic.
