The regulator needs to be replaced. There is a plastic piece on the regulator that the cable rides on, and it probably broke and caused to cable to fall off track.

These are operated by cable drive window lift regulator, a pain to replace, just get a new one and don't forget to lube the window run channels in the door with spray silicone, the lack of lube is what destroys the regulators, well u are at it lube them all.

SOURCE: The driver's side rear window problems

You will need to replace the window regulator assembly. Both of the cables should be tight. When is loose its because it has broken in the regulator. The cable regulators are a poor design.

2011 Chevy Traverse. Why doesn't left rear window go up?

There are a few possibilities here:

1. The Window regulator, cable track mechanism has failed, this usually results in a window that either falls down and can be pulled somewhat freely up and down in the track if glass can be grasped easily. if so, you'll need a regulator and to have door taken apart

2. Electrical issue, faulty switch contacts, faulty switch relay, or faulty regulator motor.
First determine if the window motor will not move from either the master switch or the actual door switch, if the switches and relay are making up you may hear the motor react and your interior lights may dim a little if engine isn't running, indicating motor receiving energy from switches. If motor seems to be powering up and not able to move window then you're looking at a regulator again, The rear door window switches could be exchanged one side to other if the switch is suspect but that may also require door panel removal. The most common reason to suspect a switch is if the rear switch is inoperative but the master switch can operate the window, or if only one direction on the window switch works but other doesn't at all.

Why rear windows on 2001 chevy tracker won't work ?

Would seem your into the inner doors & have a partial
grasp on things

Now you fix all door windows one shot

#1 Test all switches, ohm meter unplugged or volt meter with power
#2 Test all motors with battery voltage direct -- DC motor will run either direction-- can't hook up wrong
#3 Window Regulators -you know about them (Unless they are broken-you said they are tight)
#4 Do you have good ground side wiring & battery voltage at all
switches & motors
#5 Last resort--unhook the cables & work on freeing up the
glass & window guides etc then you will have found out if the
regulators are the issue

Rear window wont go up. Motor works but seems to be binding

The window regulator, is cable driven, the regulator will have to be replace, when the cable goes bad, that's the sound you hear, you can more then likely move the window up and down a little.

I replaced the passenger side front door regulator and the window still wont move. It seems to be dragging in the track. I can move the motor and it seems fine and i can move the window manually and see...

If you take the motor off, you will see a metal cover behind the gear, inside that cover is some plastic gears that have rubber insulators. Most likely those insulators are broken up and when you put a load on the motor such as working the window, the insulators allow the two gears to disengage. Look on ebay for ford window motor repair kit.

2 electric windows have stopped working. Motor does work but window seems to be free moving.

My Buick did this when the cable pulled through the plastic housing.I reinforced the housing with metal and reattached the cables, and it has worked fine since. Not an easy fix,but it didn't cost me anything.

I have a 2001 buick le sabre. The rear widow does

That is the problem....however the cable spun off the spool and you need to buy the power window assy. On line it was a good fair price (about $35-50) it has 3 studs that holds it to the inside door and 2 bolts at the window that secures the assy to the window. All work can be completed in 30 mins..

My rear window is stuck down in my 1989 k5 blazer.

If you can hear the motor turning but window is not moving, then the window most likely came off it's track. You will have to remove screws and pry off the door panel and replace window on track
