Sorry tac22,you don't. there is no dip stick .apparently, they don't want (or need)us bothering with that! i asked my dealer the same question and he said i didn't need to worry about the trans fluid. if you have transmission problems then have a "qualified technician"service it,but apparently,it is "maintainance-free". hope that helps!

2002 Oldsmobile Alero makes loud noises when turning

more than likely it is just low on power steering fluid. system might have air in it now. so after fill power steering unit to proper level driver the car and check fluid level again. and add more if needed . I believe car should have motor running for when checking fluid, same as transmission.

Driving on the freeway when all pulling power lost. The engine is still able to idle but car will not go into any gear... Any thoughts?

There are many variables here. Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Is your check engine light on? Has the transmission been slipping? or did this just happen all at once with no notice? Did you hear any loud noises like maybe an axle shaft or CV joint breaking? Does it make any strange noises when you try to accelerate in gear?

Car makes a loud noise and jerks when I try to put it in a gear.

we might need to know if this is the car's 1st transmission and how many miles are on it --- but tansmissions that make noise and **** when put into gear are transmissions that are low on transmission fluid or have burnt (old) fluid - check your transmission fluid level using the transmission fluid dipstick (its location should be in the car's owners' manual).
If fluid looks dark (significantly darker than new fluid from the bottle), then drain &fill tranny.
If fluid is just low, fill tranny and monitor level for continued leakage.
A word of caution: keep on top of the tranny's fluid level - running on a dry transmission is a really good way to put a 94 Cutlass into the junkyard before its time.

Hard shift when accelerating and slowing down

Check your transmission fluid level when the engine is running and the car is in 'park'. add extra appropriate fluid as necessary via the dipstick tube. When 'max' is reached I think you will notice a return to normal shift operation.

I have a 2000 dodge neon when i accelerate the engine reves but has lack of acceleration

When a transmission gets low on fluid and starts to slip, what is slipping is the clutch packs. When this occurs, the clutches wear out quickly. In this instance, you will need to remove the transmission and replace the clutch packs (transmission overhaul). Check the transmission fluid level and make sure that if you do add, don't over fill which is just as bad if not worst for the Automatic transmission and only use Mopar ATF+4..Dodge transmission is picky to what transmission fluid you use. Good luck and keep me posted.

1997 s10 2 wheel drive truck. 4.3L v6 makes a loud noise as the car accelerates fast or under load. When running 55 I can release the gas pedal and the noise is not audible. I can put the truck in neutral...

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?

The Fluid would still be OK. You may need an Overhaul on that Tranny.
